Personal Narrative: A Significant Life Experience

Improved Essays
These performances are a great opportunity for students to share a narrative about a significant life event. I am planning on doing a story about what happened while I was volunteering in Keokee, Virginia. While volunteering I came across a puppy who was in very bad shape and needed immediate medical care. This was a situation where I realized not only did I care dearly about the people I was trying to help but also this dog who had found itself in a very unfortunate situation. This was a significant event which led me to realize that when I truly care about something I am not willing to give up on it. In order to convey the importance/meaning of the story to the audience I want to separate the story into sections for myself. The first part or section of the story will focus on delivering a few things, it will provide background information about where I was and why I was there. After the stage has been set I will discuss the first few days of volunteering and the friendship I developed with the puppy. The next …show more content…
In order to embody/describe new characters I am going to have to take two different routes. In order for people to understand the situation I was dealing with I will have to describe the owners of the home as well as how they seemed to feel about the dog. This is important in order for people to understand why I felt like this dog was at risk and I had to do something. Then I have to talk about the people who helped me bring the puppy home, this was not a situation which happens often on these trips. I need to describe the people who helped me get the dog home, this is important in order for people to understand once I started caring so did everyone else. Being able to describe these people in a clear and concise manner will allow the audience to have a better understanding for the situation as well as my landscape of

Have you ever stopped caring so much that whatever happens, happens? I remember the time I had gotten in trouble by my mom because I had walked home from school. It was a gloomy day from it being so cloudy and cold. I was talked into walking home during school by friends whom, at the time didn't care about school as much as I did, cared nothing of school. I didn’t like it, but then again I started not to care either.…

My key life lessons are that nothing beats hard work and if you treat others with respect, they will generally treat you with respect. Hard work and effort are the main aspects that lead to “lucky” things happening. Good things don’t just fall into people’s laps, the ones that have the most “luck” generally are those that put in the most effort and work. Also, I have learned that when you truly respect those around, they will respect you back and life is much easier when you aren’t doing things behind each other’s backs.…

Reading this story taught me to appreciate life because not everyone has the ability to do things independently. This book can be taught to children when talking about the different duties of a dog. Reading this book from a dog perspective will give an outlook of how a dog views everything. The illustrations join together with the story by showing both Perry’s view and Sarah…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

My father once told me a story based on how education is very important to our family generation. He taught me that you should be grateful that you have the special opportunity of living the American dream. My father came from a different background and didn't really have the opportunity to study, his country didn't really have a good educational system. As a first generation, this inspired me to focus on my own future and my education for my family. Otherwise It's important to tell stories to anyone that motivated us with great life advices.…

“A handful of moments I wished I could change, but I was carried away,” are the lyrics that remind a lot about myself. Growing up, and even about two years ago, I was insanely shy and did not talk much around people, friends, or family. The way I talked to people was in a timid, soft spoken way, which looking back, was awfully embarrassing. My friends and family would laugh at me because I could not talk well, and when I did talk, they acted as if I were a baby who just said its first words. With all of that nonsense going on, their idiotic response kind of made me not want to say anything anymore.…

One day, my senior year in high school, we were handed three different narratives prompts. The rules were simple pick one of the prompts and write about it. Easy right? At the time, the prompt that stood out to me the most was, “think of a time when you taught someone something important.” I pondered the topic for sometime and what finally popped into my head was a great experience when I was in the seventh grade.…

You would think that death would devastate someone for the rest of their life, but my brother’s death actually changed my life. I’m not saying that his death didn’t have a negative effect on me, but it had more of a positive effect on me than anything.
