Personal Narrative: A Short Story

The moment he stepped out on stage, a rush of glee and utter blissfulness washed over my entire body. Tears, laughter, smiles. The man I had waited years to see was standing in the same room as me, preparing to perform for thousands of screaming fans like myself. Clad in flannel and jeans, he began to strum his guitar. Finally, he opened his mouth and the angelic sound filled the charged arena. My dad looked at me and smiled, so happy to see me experience the greatest moment of my life. When Ed sang, we sang louder. When Ed danced, we danced crazier. We were in our element- soaking in every single note and beat like a sponge. Being in the same vicinity as the two redheaded, flannel-wearing, guitar-playing men who had inspired me to pick up …show more content…
The opening act came on, and though they were really great, I couldn’t wait for the set to finish so I could finally see the performer I had waited years to see. After Rudimental finished their set of songs, the lights came back on and we had to wait what seemed like an eternity for the fire-haired man to step out on stage. Finally, the lights dimmed again, and I saw the red-headed, flannel-wearing, tiny guitar-carrying man I had waited so long to see ran out to the middle of the stage. The minute I registered the fact that Ed Sheeran was in the same room as me, in indescribable feeling washed over me. Tears filled my eyes and I smiled so hard my cheeks began to …show more content…
I saw him create his own backing music with just his voice and guitar using a loop pedal- something you don’t get to experience by simply listening to the recording. I saw his face contort as he reached for a high note and go into his falsetto. I saw him do everything I could have never see him do or even fathom seeing him doing if I hadn’t gone to see him perform live. I looked to my left to see my dad dancing like a maniac. Normally, this would turn me as red as a tomato, but that night, I didn’t care. I danced like a maniac right alongside him. Sweat was dripping down our faces and our voices began to crack. We looked like we’d just run a

Not only is he a highly skilled guitarist, but his vocals were on of high standards. The overall energy level was the concert was very high. During a three-minute instrumental on one of his final songs, “How Many More Times”, Bonamassa really drew in his crowd with how he smoothly singly stoked the strings of his guitar increasing his pitch then instantly transferring over to produce a flat plucking sound followed by the rest of the band joining back in. Before attending, I just knew I would easily become more bored with each passing song; however, I was the complete opposite.…

When you watch something you love go and take on this challenge without you, to perform, its amazing. Performing that halftime show to the best of their ability, showing to us that they don’t really need us to be around to be successful. Standing in that booth, watching them perform the intricate details of their music and their footing, I saw how they can be without us. They put in much more effort for us than they did for anything else. It was amazing, to say…

Could you ever imagine playing live in front of a whole crowd shouting your band’s name. Just enough that if you were to stand miles away you could hear the chanting . What can I say besides what an amazing experience? As I basically stumbled into the Verizon hall trying to seem as prim and proper as possible I began to feel the intensity of what I was going to experience. As the performers tuned their instruments, and were prepping to begin their performance I felt a multitude of different emotions and trained to maintain my composure because I actually became somewhat excited in anticipation. I never really realize how massive the areas I am are until I finally was sitting in my seat in the Verizon Hall, and as the rows filled up slowly but surely I became so invested in the entire atmosphere and magnitude of the performance. A few moments after my realizations the performance began.…

I remember feeling as if I found a missing part of me, cliché I know, but that’s the only way I could put it. I remember seeing the huge artwork and just feeling so much closer to the record. Being able to see and hold a record in my hand was so much better than any cd, because it was so much larger in comparison and felt like it was so much more. Come here, and listen.” He said when he placed the record into the turntable.…

Track 5: The Glamorous Life Sheila E., The Glamorous Life One of the most significant outcomes of the Sunset Sound sessions was an album for Sheila Escovedo, a young Latin with well-honed percussion skills. She was the daughter of a professional backing player and had been introduced to Prince by Carlos Santana. With some considerable coaxing, Prince got Sheila to take a stab at the mic. Following a first, successful collaboration on “Erotic City,” Prince pulled her into the studio with a pile of his demos and completed an entire album on her behalf in just five days.…

Bennet climbed onto the crowded concert bus and managed to find a seat next to his best friend and twin brother Trev. Having only briefly surveyed the bus from the outside, Bennet took the time to breathe it all in. The bright lights, the blaringly loud music, the 2 hippies sitting in the back seat smoking, and all the other Backroom Jackson fans who were waiting anxiously in their seats for the bus to start rolling its way to the concert. The atmosphere of the tour bus reminded Bennet faintly of his first day of kindergarten ten years ago; excitement was in the air, but no one wanted to push the limits for fear of getting kicked out. Bennet was shaken from his thoughts when another smaller boy began trying to push his way into the twins’ seat.…

Together it was fun to sing and dance alongside my built in best friend. Saying that I enjoyed the concert would be an understatement. I still love the band’s music like I did before the concert, but now I appreciate the music more than what I ever did before I went to this show. Being in the Music in America class I now appreciate the talent and hard work that artist put into composing, performing, and shows all together. I never thought about how many people it takes to put on a show until I watched all of the different light and color changes throughout the show.…

The 30th Annual Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival, which was located on Evanston’s lakefront, was eventful for me last weekend. There were many ongoing activities such as family craft activities, international cuisine, and live music by several performers. I got to experience the diversity of arts and culture from all over the world. I went there mainly to listen to one of the music performers named, Saraswathi Ranganathan, along with her ensemble of Raga Blues that consisted of guests that included origins from India, Africa and Spain- Morikeba played the African Kora, Mamadou Tama played the Senegalese Tama and finally, Carlo Basile played the Flamenco guitar. The performance started off with Morikeba singing and playing the African Kora simultaneously.…
