“Beep, Beep, Beep!” That is the sound I woke up to on the morning. This is it, the morning! I got out of bed and went straight to my uniform. I threw it on so fast because of how thrilled I was. I quickly did my competition makeup and threw my hair into a poof and bun. I grabbed my cheer shoes and practically flew down the stairs. I ran like lightning to the car and screamed “Mom, let’s go!” We drove to Bojangles and I got my favorite breakfast. Then we headed over to AC Flora for stretching and warmups. We were all there. My teammates and I were ecstatic to perform our perfected routine. Today was our chance to show everyone what we were made of. Once everyone checked their makeup and hair, we quickly ran through the routine. There were …show more content…
Some of the teams we knew we could beat, but others we weren’t so sure about. We walked through the back door and made our way to the stands while we waited to be called for warmups. Once our coach gave us the five minute warning, we knew it was crunch time. We quickly scrambled to the warmup area and began to warm up our tumbling. We were practicing our round offs, back handsprings, some of us standing tucks, and running tucks. We were all so full of adrenalin, we didn’t even realize what was happening. After tumbling, we moved over to stunt warmups. We knew what we were doing, we have only done this for what seems like a million times. My stunt group was solid, while others falling. We were just hoping that they were going to do better when it counted. Finally we ran over to run through the routine. This was it, we were next. When we heard our introduction, we flew out onto the mat. We were so full of energy that there was no way that we weren’t going to hit this routine. Yes! I landed my round off tuck, even with a pulled muscle. Now it was just smooth sailing. Then suddenly, right before our stunt sequence was about to go up, our music skipped ahead about 40 seconds. None of us knew what to do. This has never happened to us and we had never practiced this in case it ever happened. It was so embarrassing! We were all on different counts and at different parts of the routine. When it

Five years in a row, undefeated each season, had the best team in the league. It was just another Sunday afternoon, my team and I were prepared for another championship game. Going into the games we held our heads high, knowing we were the defending champs for five years straight, never losing a game, and absolutely destroying our opponents by large margins of victory. It was the Huskies vs. the Heat, you could say they were our rivals, but we knew that they couldn’t handle the competition we competed at. Every game we played against them, we blew them out, enjoying the sweet taste of victory.…

I had that deep feeling in my stomach that there was either something very good, or bad about to happen. I have participated in the all-star competition cheerleading world since I was a very young girl. Over the last ten years, cheerleading has not only taught me how to stunt, tumble and dance, it has also taught me so many remarkable life lessons, such as leadership, teamwork, determination, and perseverance. One important lesson I have learned over the years is how to overcome failure as well as learning to control the fear of failure. The all-star cheerleading industry is very competitive; one small mistake in a routine can make an incredible impact on the outcome of the competition.…

As I walk onto the football field for the first game of the season I feel the cool air rise up my spine. I feel the energy from my team as we form together as one, we stand in the corner of the field ready to run out. Our helmets give off a brand new polish since we haven’t used them that much, they shine in the light giving us a bright glisten of navy blue and white. We huddle around and form a circle, our captains start a chant and we follow. When the announcer announces us we storm onto the field breaking the sign, when I take my first couple steps onto the turf I can feel the individual pieces of rubber start to form around my cleat, it feels like a tempur pedic bed the way my cleats sink in, as I walk onto that field for my first Junior…

It was the beginning of my 8th-grade summer vacation. Hooray! No more waking up early, and no more late nights doing homework. As the days went by, I knew I couldn’t sleep in until noon, or stay up very late, I needed to go to as many volleyball activities the school offered so I could make it on a good team. I was determined to do anything to become a 10x better athlete than I was last year because it was high school ball, not middle school ball.…

I live day to day, going through the works: wake up at the ungodly hour of six A.M., make it through my classes, two hours of volleyball, finally go home, repeat. But, in between all of the rushing, the yelling, the stress of high school, is when I get to relax. It’s when I get to forget about school, or as I call it “college auditions” and when I can just have a nice time without having to weigh the pros and cons of every thing I do. Every day, after the last bell rings, I navigate through the throngs of intimidating upperclassmen. It’s like The Hunger Games, stay calm, keep your head down, and try not to piss anyone off.…
