Personal Narrative: A Short Story: Waiting For Me?

"Wait for me?"

"No."

"Come on give me like 2 more minutes," I pleaded, running around my house like a crazy woman.

"Fine," Regina said, rolling her eyes and plopping down on my couch.

Ok I just needed to find the perfect shoes to go with my dress...

I went to my room and looked under my bed for my plain black flats. Since I was going to a party, I was trying to avoid my feet hurting from heels.

"Got it!" I yelled from my room and walked to the living room where Regina was now standing.

"One million years later you 're ready, what a miracle," Regina said clapping and I shook my head.

"Because of you, we 're going to be late to the party"

"Gina chill, you can never be late to a party where people won 't even notice. This is a carrington

I opened the door as Regina followed and after locking the door, we started walking to the party.

Brad Carrington 's house was only a few blocks away from my house and this wasn 't exactly my first time going there.

I forgot the exact address so I guessed the party was where I could hear the loud music blasting from blocks away.

After 5 minutes we arrived there and Gina and I looked at each other.

"Try not to get wasted like last time, I don 't feel like dragging you all the way home again," Regina said and I giggled.

"M 'kay two can play it that game," I said, grabbing a beer and drinking the whole thing.

"Whatever," Regina said, walking away, pretending she was mad.

"Hey," a random guy said, taking advantage of me being alone.

"Sorry, I don 't do seconds." I said after looking up and recognizing the guy was James Deljay, a guy I dated in freshman year.

"You know you want me back," James said and I laughed.

"You wish," I said yawning at his weak attempt, putting the beer bottle down, and subsequently walking away.

A crowd of people were already dancing in the living room and I realized what song was playing after listening to some of the lines.

Gonna wear that dress you like, skin-tight
Do my hair up real, real nice
And syncopate my skin to how you 're breathing

I started dancing to the song and Regina popped up out of no where and joined me not long after.

" 'Cause I just wanna look good for you, good for you uh-oh" we sang along while dancing.

The song played on as Regina and I danced like two crazy best friends, laughing and acting silly.

I bumped Reginas butt with my butt and she bumped me

They were all looking away — away from each other, away from the other students, away from anything in particular as far as I could tell. As I watched, the small girl rose with her tray — unopened soda, unbitten apple — and walked away with a quick, graceful lope that belonged on a runway. I watched, amazed at her lithe dancer's step, till she dumped her tray and glided through the back door, faster than I would have thought possible. My eyes darted back to the others, who sat unchanging. "Who are they ?"…

I was there to pick up a girl that I would meet for the first time.
