A Ride of A Lifetime

“WOOOOO!” The familiar students from my school hooted and hollered from the seats in front and in back of me. The ride hadn’t even begun, yet that didn’t stop them from voicing their excitement. I on the other hand sat as content as possible. Trying to conceal my mixed emotions of excitement and nervousness. I’ve always told myself that I would NEVER get on a roller coaster in my life, but here I was encased in the supposable safe orange bars that would prevent me from flying off the ride. “I’m so excited!” My former friend Jazz exclaimed as we began ascending sluggishly forward.
It was too her first time going on a roller coaster and at that moment

Not only regret for teasing Jazz about the ride, but for also being so eager to want to go on the ride in the first place. It was also within that moment I began thinking of the worse possible accidents that could occurred on roller coasters. People suddenly plummeting to their death after their seat belts failed to keep them down, carts unexpectedly flying off the hinges, and even whole roller coasters collapsing all together.
But the most dramatic accident that kept replaying in my head was that of the roller coaster scene in Final Destination 3. And even though it was a movie it was always the primary reason why I never allowed myself to go on a roller coaster to begin with. I try to shake the unwanted thoughts away, but they kept recurring as we finally made it to the top of the highest part of the entire ride. If I hadn’t been breathing so rapidly, I could have sworn my heart stopped beating. I could see the entire park from where I sat. Along with the odd mixers of small colorful dots all scattered throughout the park. I could also see cars off to the side driving peacefully just beyond the fence along the

A few years ago, on a class trip, my friends had asked me to ride at least one roller coaster. It was not a large roller coaster, but it made me queasy just looking at it. I was confident that I would be able to go on and enjoy the experience. My confidence quickly evaporated when we began climbing up the roller coaster’s first hill. The ride dropped, and I was screaming so loudly that I could only hear myself.…

I remember the gut wrenching feeling in my stomach as my best friend and I approached the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Hershey Park, called SkyRush. I am not sure why I agreed to go on this roller coaster, considering most of the time at amusement parks I entertain myself with food, and miniature rides that stay level to the ground. Unlike me, my friend liked the rush and heart dropping feeling of being at the apex of a roller coaster and then dropping down at maximum speed. Personally, I preferred the ground, where I remained in full control of my own safety. Yet that afternoon I found myself standing in line for SkyRush.…

Well I had gone to Six Flags and when I had got there I was so anxious to get on every ride in Six Flags but then I had heard a person on the Goliath scream ”stop the ride” it was so funny and scary at the same time. Then I saw that almost every ride had so many twists and turns and even circles that go round and round. Last year I had gone on a roller coaster which was the Mind Bender and it wasn’t so scary. The Mind Bender had so many circles that go round and round.…

There was a rush through my body thinking, Wow, that was fun!! We have gone on a lot more rides, by the end of the day. My favorite ride was that there was three different slides that are pitch dark and you get one soft mate and you go up a small set of wooden stairs then you race down the slide and the reason I loved it was because it takes about four seconds to get to the bottom of the slide but it feels like it takes a minute. A lot of the rides were fun some scary, and some adrenaline pumping. Ashley was tired and we had went on the rides we wanted to go on, so we had paid to get are belongings.…

Cedar Point, the Roller Coaster Capital of the world, certainly lives up to its title. Scattered throughout the park are some of the most intense roller coasters you’ll ever hear of. I was fortunate enough to have experienced the phenomenon of riding atop the Top Thrill Dragster over summer vacation, which lasted only 20 seconds of real time, but will forever be embedded within my long-lasting memory. The fiery orange sun began to submerge below the line of the horizon, far out across the calm, murky waters of Lake Erie.…

I got anxious as I reached the top, until the worked yelled “pull the cord.” Those three words is all it took to relieve me of everything, all the stress, anxiety and anything else that had bothered me just seemed to go away as I was flying through the sky. Once the ride was over I looked was so glad that I hadn’t chickened out. It was such a great experience that was so much more than just riding a dumb ride at Six Flags. It showed me that whatever goal I set for myself in life, big or small, I would accomplish it.…

I was filled with anxiety™, but I rode it so???? I guess I did okay??? I don't really like the stomach dropping feeling, which is honestly what half of what a roller coaster is. I'm not much of a roller coaster person, but I went on them cause I said I would. I don't back on my word, especially on something so small as a roller coaster.…

So this meant that my brother and sister got to sit in the very front of the roller coaster car, and my dad and I were right behind them. When we got in, it seemed like no time had passed from when we got in the line, to when we were seated in the ride getting ready for a moment that I would never forget. We waited for about 30 seconds for the workers to make sure everybody was strapped in safely. When the carts then started down this tiny slope to a straight away over the water. I was a mix of scared and excited for the ride.…

“Great America, here I come,” I say groggily but excitedly as I wake up. Once I’m fully awake, I jump out of bed, say good morning to my mom, brush my teeth, and throw on my bathing suit with some clothes over. Grabbing my drawstring bag, I compile a list of things to bring. I start grabbing items from around the house, “Sunscreen: check, towel: check, phone: check, money: check,” I say in my head as I find them. And last but definitely not least, I can’t forget Scarlett and my’s map route of the park.…

However, just as I said this the spiritless roller coaster attendant strapped me in permanently ensuring I couldn’t back out. After the attendants strapped everyone in, they did their whole spiel on how we were going to have a great time, but the words muddled in my mind as I was more focused on breathing. The car moved onward and screeched at us as if in warning. Then suddenly the car stopped, I’m pretty sure just to spite us.…

Being in New York City itself was all too surreal, like a dream come true. Buildings raced each other in a quest to touch the soft blue sky and people littered the streets and sidewalks. Life there was upbeat and fast-paced and everyone and everything was moving, but then you crossed into Central Park. Crossing the sidewalk into the large park was like crossing the border into another world.…
