Personal Narrative: A Psychedelic User

Improved Essays
I'm a moderate psychedelic user. I've had a large number of LSD trips at both low and high doses, a few non-breakthrough DMT experiences, one 25C-NBOMe trip, and one 20mg metocin (4-HO-MET) trip before this experience.
My friend S wanted to try metocin as her first 'strong' psychedelic. She smoked weed and drank alcohol, but hasn't used any other drugs before. We figured it would be a good idea since metocin doesn't have a very deep headspace and is generally easier to handle than acid, for example. I headed up to her room with a couple 10mg capsules; we each took one, then put on Alice in Wonderland (2010) on her laptop. The time is around midnight.
Set and setting was close to ideal. We were in a good mood after getting back from a hookah

I headed back to my room to finish the trip and see if I could go any deeper, while S went to bed, still completely sober. With the room lit, tracers and very mild color shifting could be observed. I then turned off the lights and laid in bed with my eyes closed, trying to go deeper into the trip. I spent about 2 more hours lying there, having strange, but not profound thoughts, while the visuals displayed themselves independently of what I had going on in my mind, with no connection whatsoever. 4 hours after I dosed, at 4am, the trip began to die down. Psychedelics usually have this effect on me where I can't sleep for a few hours after the trip ends, and this was no exception - I ended up falling asleep at 6am, two hours after the end of the trip.
It seems that S didn't have any effects that night. I assume that the initial bit where she felt little "a bit different" can be attributed to placebo, especially because nothing further happened to her afterward. I'm not sure what we did wrong. Maybe it was the pizza?
For me, the trip was very casual and fun, but it was missing what I consider a very important part of the psychedelic experience: the connection between visuals and thoughts that other psychedelics produce. My previous metocin trip at 20mg didn't produce that effect either. I suspect that higher doses would remedy that; I guess I'll find out in the

It was a Friday night here at Keene State College. My friends and I were staying in for the night to just watch movies, get high and munch out. I was getting all my stuff together to go for a drive with the girls to smoke a blunt like usual, until Taylor came into my room with a brownie, saying that she got one for me, and everyone else. “We're all gonna eat one of these tonight instead of smoking. They are cooked in cannabis oil and will make us feel great!”…

The experiment was fun to look at in hindsight, but all throughout the 48 hours I was mostly just terrified that I was going to be caught in a situation where I could not access more ice. This experiment generates much to think about in terms of how addicts suffer with addiction and the dependency that can be created after a short period of time. I hope to reenact a more cohesive study to simulate addiction, but for what it is worth, it was an…
