As I can imagine this now; I picture myself walking into the doors of the gym with my duffle bag. I hear the echoes of the cardio class’s instructor yelling, “You can do it, give me one more repetition” through the speakers. I can never get over how loud the speakers are. As I keep walking, I reach the locker rooms, there’s a horrific fragrance. Most of the time it’s bearable. But this time it was completely unbearable and unpleasant. I walk in and you can see people plugging there nose with towels, dirty clothes, headbands and with whatever objects they can put there hands on to contain the stench. There is always a different type of body odor everyday.
Times goes by, I make my way to my ultimate destination, the weight room area. The first thing I noticed is the line of dumbbells and machines. Then I set my eyes on a knee-high bench that looked worn and torn, the padding, now black from the amount of use its been through, it is falling apart like an old sofa, inevitably its an uncomfortable place to sit. As I sit there on the knee-high bench with my dumbbells, I decided today would be a different day.
