Personal Narrative: A Place In Charlestown

Improved Essays
It was a beautiful day, a cloudless enjoyable day in a small town called Charlestown. I had just moved here less than a week ago. This place was so much different than any where i had just moved from. It felt like it would take a lot of time getting used being in a new place like this.

Before i moved to Charlestown i lived in the beautiful city of Louisville, Ky. It’s a great place with so much diversity and just seeing different people everyday that you have never seen before is what made it a great city and place to involved in. Although it was just a thirty minute drive across the Ohio river, it still felt as if i was so far away from Louisville. Charlestown felt like it was a town that dreams of being a big city but it will always a be small town in southern Indiana, but it's still an amazing place to be around.

I was prepared to go to Jeffersontown High school in louisville, little did i know that we were moving in a few weeks. All of a sudden, it was the first day of my high school journey. I woke up at 6:00 am in the morning got ready and got in the bus about an hour and half later. The bus drive was no longer was no more than 3 minutes i could walk to school but why do that if you can get a free ride. The school was very nice and clean and it looked like it was just built compared to all the schools in Louisville. I got my schedule from the main office, since it was my first day, I was confused which hallway to use, but I managed to get to my classes without asking anyone. I was very confused about when I would have lunch. It was noon. I went to my next class and the bell rang as I entered. I went through the regular process of asking students around the school but, their explanations was as clear as

President Barack Obama once said “When all American are treated as equal, no matter who they are or who they love, we are all more free.” As a Hispanic LGBTQ American, these words resonated with me. In my exposure to a plethora of cultures, in my personal experience and academic career, I have had the privilege to understand and further appreciate many lifestyles. Through these experiences, my mission: to serve toward compassion and respect, rather than intolerance and isolation, has remained clear. These past 8 years, Obama has been a champion for LGBTQ+ Americans.…

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

In my understanding, that was my command to do. Give selfish treatment to one man but give all credible treatment to the other, who in all shed the same blood fighting. I became deeply distraught by this segregated treatment because of some set value one man has to have just by the color of his skin. In disgust, I still had to do what was meant for me to do. I would work on the black soldiers and a woman named Clara Barton would work on the white soldiers. I grew interest into wanting to know how she felt about this unfair situation, however it was prohibited to step near her or inside the white soldier’s tent.…

Piles of homework, memorized scripts, complicated blocking, sweaty costumes, quick meals, and exhaustion beyond comprehension are all part of my life. A typical day is 7 hours of school, 4 hours of rehearsal, and 3 hours of homework which all equates to long and exhausting 14 hour days. Time management is skill that was forced upon me to keep me swimming through high school. I have spent more hours inside my school’s auditorium than I have in some of the classroom. Thankfully, my classes have all been equipped with the necessary materials for me to excel.…

Jeb did as he was told and secured a room in the hotel. He made sure to get one near the back and on the top floor so they would be as far from the prying eyes and ears of the more popular rooms as they could get. He wasn’t sure what it was that Ben was going to find out from this Darcy character, but he was sure that whatever it was they shouldn’t probably be talking about it where others may get an earshot of it. Once he had brought the saddlebags up in to the room and secured the horses around near the back of the building where they could be easily kept and ye on overnight he laid down on the mattress and looked up at the ceiling. I finally saw the the beautiful sun for the first time without having to bend my head back as far as I could since I had been in New York. It shone down brightly, warming my skin and glimmering off the glass of the skyscrapers in the near distance. I could finally feel the soft breeze wrap around me and not get deflected from the buildings. I watched the people from the city enter the park and watched as their city attitudes give way to the magical ambiance of the park. I closed my eyes and took it all in, and I could’ve stayed on top of that rock for…
