Every year my school took two days off in mid-February and had these things called Mini Courses. Mini Courses were a bunch of fun activities like candle making and food tasting that you could sign up for. You were allowed three at max.

On the first day of Mini Courses, I was extremely nervous, seeing that I had finally put together that I was going to be spending the whole day with pro skiers and snowboarders when I could hardly keep my balance. Ahead, I could just see Nico around the curve. I was not scared or worried, I felt free and relaxed, weightlessly gliding down.
I was not scared or worried, that is, until I got around the curve and saw what was waiting for me, creeping closer and closer by the second. My stomach dropped through my feet and I am surprised I didn’t fall right then.
A monstrously sharp right turn was there, seeming to set off every alarm in my head. My first thought was “well, I’m screwed”. After that thought was pure panic. I had seven seconds max to figure out what I was going to do.
If I kept going straight? I would run into a patch of trees that didn’t look too welcoming to victims of out of control/panicked skiers and snowboarders like myself. If I turned left? Plow over at least two kids of the ump-teen kids learning how to do just exactly what I could not. Not to mention that if I picked anything but turning right I would never hear the end of it from Nico or Jack. I could not just let them have the satisfaction of the existence of my pride and dignity being completely humiliated by something so simple. Once I finally concluded that I had no other choice but to attempt the right turn, I had about four
