Personal Narrative: A Perfect Fall Day

Improved Essays
A perfect fall day for me would have to be a little bit cold, but not as cold as a stone. It would have to start out as my house being clean because if it's not clean I won't be satisfied.
I would like to spend this Halloween day with my friends. I like to spend Halloween with my friends getting candy and being scared. I like to see the trees crashing against each other “boom bush”. But sometimes I don't really like to walk a million miles to every house. Before we went trick or treating, we would take lots of pictures that we were smiling till our cheeks fell off. We would go to the store and get stuff so that we can prank people, for example, I always go to my auntie's house and toilet paper her house it would be funny because she would

Halloween, an American tradition where young children can go ‘trick or treating’ around their neighbourhood, however, this has risen the debate of whether this celebration is a safe or a suitable one to be part of. An opinion piece was published on Mamamia on the 29th of October, 2015, titled ‘Why my kids won’t be doing Halloween’, written by Alissa Warren, implies that Halloween is a ridiculous and an inappropriate event to be participated by anyone. In a disconcerting and exasperated tone, Warren targets readers of Mamamia and parents, of this whole issue of the pointless festivity. The article was also accompanied by a visual image that displays some kids in costume, trick or treating, with no one around and followed by a comment, written…

When people think of Halloween, some view as a holiday of fun. Its purpose in the United States is viewed as a holiday for children and adults alike, since children get free candy from trick or treating, while adults go out partying while dressed in costumes. However, Halloween’s actual purpose was more of a holiday or festival in the Celtic religion called Samhain, the holiday was to mark the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. As time passed, Halloween went from festivals for the harvest season to a holiday for kids and adults here in the States.…

Exhilarating: a term making one feel very happy, animated, or elated, would be the perfect word to describe what the day had in store for us eager, and jubilant grade 6 students. A thrilled and luminous smile lit up on my enthusiastic face as I ambled on the same rugged, cracked, gray tinted sidewalk that I had sauntered on everyday for a year. The serene, endless sky was the perfect shade of aqua as the light, silky, radiant clouds formed delicate shapes. The sun was glistening with great luminosity. Suddenly I heard someone screaming my name well not really; it was my nickname, one that really agitated me in an incredibly obnoxious way, “Babikathu wait up”.…

For many people Christmas is an important holiday. By the time it hits September angel decorations start filling the store aisles and “Jingle Bells” plays on repeat but it is not the only one filling up the store. Ghouls, candy, and spiders all crouch on the side waiting for Halloween; a holiday that some look over when it does get to September, although they should not. Halloween is a major holiday that is more exciting than Christmas in terms of history, traditions, and in lower expenses.…

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, I rather spontaneously---or perhaps, I’d like to think, by the work of the Holy Spirit---got on a night bus and went to church. I arrived at St. Mark’s Cathedral to a contemplative Eucharist in their beautiful chapel. It was soft and lovely and quiet. I love the quiet. I sought it out when I came to college in Seattle, living in “the big city” for the first time this fall, more than a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of people everywhere.…

Friday Mornings I rushed my full stomach to my room and I pulled out the bottom of my semi formal clothings and pants drawer. Being the control freak that I am, I also picked out my brother’s outfit. My mother was kind enough to let me select my own outfit to school as a second grader. Enrolled in a small, private, and conservative Christian school, where the moms are very in everyone’s business; not many of my friends were allowed to pick out their “free friday” outfits. Although now, I wish my mother would restrict some of the things I wore.…

There's many reasons why I look forward to it, the summer nights with my friends, being able to walk outside without layers of clothing, and being able to actually enjoy my time outside without freezing to death. However, there is one main reason I look forward to summertime, EDC. EDC is a carnival/concert that occurs every year. It always varies venues but for the past three years, Vegas has been its home.…

People everywhere decorated their houses and yards, families carved jack-o-lanterns and displayed them outside, and herds of children dashed from house to house trying to stockpile as much candy as they could via trick-or-treating. I remember dressing up in numerous costumes from skeletons and crash test dummies to ninjas and mimes. Even during the ninth grade, the year before my mother took this photograph; I still managed to take part in the holiday. That year was reasonably demanding, with teachers assigning various projects and homework assignments that would occupy most of Halloween night. As a result, I told my mom and sister to go trick-or-treating without me so that I might complete my…

The Summer of 2008 We have all been curious before; whether it was about a small ladybug on your window or a rocket ship in outer space. Sometimes it’s best to not let your curiosity get the best of you because in the end, if you let yourself be curious, you might end up putting yourself or others in danger. The sky coated itself in dark lavender on this particular hot, summer day, so anyone would immediately know it was going to start pouring.…
