One spring day, I drove to a new soccer field ready to try out. Before setting foot on the field, I had full confidence that I would be offered a position on the new team. Instead of practicing and preparing before the try out, I simply showed up ready to play soccer. To my amazement, there were an abundant amount of girls present when I walked up to the field. I was devastated. I did not put enough effort into training and practicing prior to the try out. Instead, I assumed that it would be easy to be offered a position on the team. Knowing this, I knew I had let myself down. At first, I considered quitting soccer. I never wanted to try out for another soccer team. Whenever I thought about soccer, I only focused on the fact that I was not the best soccer player. This experience greatly affected my confidence level. As weeks passed, I started thinking more realistically. I realized it was better to grow from my failures. I learned that I always had room to improve me skills. Obtaining humility would allow me improve my skills and reach for my goals. Failing to secure a spot on the new soccer team gave me the opportunity to assess the changes I needed to make within
