Personal Narrative: A Moment That Changed My Life

Superior Essays
“A handful of moments I wished I could change, but I was carried away,” are the lyrics that remind a lot about myself. Growing up, and even about two years ago, I was insanely shy and did not talk much around people, friends, or family. The way I talked to people was in a timid, soft spoken way, which looking back, was awfully embarrassing. My friends and family would laugh at me because I could not talk well, and when I did talk, they acted as if I were a baby who just said its first words. With all of that nonsense going on, their idiotic response kind of made me not want to say anything anymore. Through time and my love for music and boys in punk rock bands, I learned a lot about myself and I even changed how I acted towards people just …show more content…
Thank you so much!” I said bawling my eyes out. It was a dream come true! I counted down the days until the concert and each day felt like a month. All that was on my mind during school was All Time Low and Warped Tour. Throughout the school year, I saved my money for band merchandise and tried to get myself mentally and physically prepared for the concert. I do not know if it was me or if the school year seemed longer than it should have been. To be honest, I do not think I have ever been so impatient in my life until that school year happened. The day had come. I did not sleep the night before because I thought about how many bruises I will get from the mosh pits I will get trapped in and how I will sing along with my favorite band. I went to the concert with my best friend; I could tell she was not excited as much as I was. At first, the crowd was only about 120 people, but as the main stage’s set progressed, and the more crowd-hyped bands played, the crowd got bigger. There were drunks, stoners, and shirtless men and girls everywhere and it was kind of disgusting. Managing through all of the nastiness, somehow my friend and I pushed our way through the smelly crowd. We were covered in sweat and spit that was not ours, but in a way, it helped us maneuver through the people. In occasion, we got hit in the face and pushed, but we were determined to get as close to the stage as we could. Luckily, there were no mosh pits to rummage

Have you ever stopped caring so much that whatever happens, happens? I remember the time I had gotten in trouble by my mom because I had walked home from school. It was a gloomy day from it being so cloudy and cold. I was talked into walking home during school by friends whom, at the time didn't care about school as much as I did, cared nothing of school. I didn’t like it, but then again I started not to care either.…

It was hot and it got exhausting. The sun was glaring down at us and we had to keep directing traffic in the hot sun and at that time I was really regretting going to the show. It felt like I was just standing there pointing in one direction, walking back and forth in the hot sun. I remembered we were doing this for the community which was important to the Blue Angels because they needed help with the traffic because there was a lot of people coming so I thought it was an important contribution. They finally brought us some water and food which was great because we were all thirsty and hungry from standing in the heat almost all…

We were going to hear them sing, to us, and it was amazing. When you think about seeing someone in concert you think about someone you have been dying to see. The night before we left for Shakopee, I studied the bands, what kind of music they played and what they sounded like. Very few of them became favorites, as I am very picky the kind of music I listen to. I was scared because I was still fairly new to this, but by the end of the night I wasn’t scared…

I was so excited and almost couldn't control myself. When I found out I was going to get to see my favorite band live in concert. I freaked out It all started with my dad talking about how he wanted to get work off to go on a little trip. I had no idea what kind of trip he meant but I just went along with it. He asked me what my thoughts were about heading to a place called Mt. Pleasant and go to the Soaring Eagle casino and go to a concert and he would take me and my sister and his girlfriend would go with.…

While we were there we had our hair redone because from the humidity it made it super frizzy! During the redo process I probably knocked my dad in the head 4 times with my crown. By time our redo was done we looked country and glitzy. Then we noticed we still had one hour and fourty-five minutes left we played Apples to Apples. We kept a really close eye one the time because we knew if we wanted good seats we would have to get there early.…

This lasted about twenty minutes because I could not enjoy the concert because people were fighting, throwing up, falling down, and being loud and ignorant. My friends that rode with me to the concert also wanted to move away from all of the chaos. We decided to move to the section where the families were and we enjoyed the concert better where we were compared to the section of chaos. Once we moved sections I really enjoyed my first concert at Walnut Creek…

The minutes before the concert seemed to go by extremely fast and before I knew it, the concert was here. When it was time for my first and easiest solo, my heart beat was pounding in my head and I could feel the sweat dripping off my instrument's keys, but the warm smile from the conductor as my first note sang out put me at ease, and I played a good solo. The performance continued and soon it was time for the big, super exposed one that seemed to end the concert. I completely forgot about the audience and other distractions, and it was just me, my music, the conductor, and the rest of the band playing. Time seemed to slow down, and I put as much heart into the music as I could possibly manage.…

The glowing white light filled the stadium. The seats rose to the stars and the wispy clouds. The knots became tighter in my stomach, as I waited in anticipation of our last show. My mom made a phone call to the venue, the best decision all day. She explained the accident and glanced at my heavily taped ankle. They obliged and gave us a pass to use the service elevator instead of the stairs. The concert was fast approaching and the lines of teenage girls clad in flannels and 5 Seconds of Summer gear grew rapidly. I stood next to mom with a special sticker on my sweatshirt and a crush under my left arm.…

There are approximately 397,000 children in foster care in the United States of America currently and I used to be one of them. However, foster had not even been near the forefront of my mind that summer. The summer before I started my first year of high school, I had plenty of anxiety about the tall tale I invented in my own mind that stood before me. Stories about how hard high school were numerous and often regaled on the crowded bus ride home by high schoolers who seemed to have the knowledge of every wise teacher in history combined. which that scared me to death; I had always held my position as a good student who followed the rules of my middle school.…
