Personal Narrative: A Man Screamed

Improved Essays
I had just got done with my stew and I was talking to Joe, Joe didn't really like the stew but it was all we had tonight and we have to eat whatever we can get around here. It was the same as every night besides two new kids came in. They were planning to take the train that was coming in tomorrow just like Joe. I'm fine staying here so I'm not planning on going anywhere. The fire feels real nice too. I'm starting to get tired so I'm going to go to my tent and get to sleep. A Man Screamed, “Get up, they’re trying to sneak it out early!” I got up really fast cuz the guy almost gave me a heart attack. I ran outside to Joe’s tent and I told him goodbye, I ran out to the train with him but there were cops trying to block us. The leader gave up because they were way outnumbered, then the rest of them dropped everything and told us that the flint police were coming and they had orders to shoot cuz’ it aint’ free land and it was private property. I didn't even bother to go back to the camp cuz I had everything I care about on me. I just ran back into the woods and took a right so I wouldn't meet any cops on the trail. …show more content…
I had to jump in the woods to hide from two cop cars that went by. Luckily they didn't see me though. After that I didn't have anymore trouble. But one car stopped and gave me a ride, the man was really nice and his name was Mr. Lewis. He took me to the grand rapids because I guess he had to do something with blood, he didn't really go into much detail, all he really said is it was an emergency. When Mr. Lewis dropped me off I just started to walk around and explore the new city, I had only been to the Grand Rapids one other time and that was way back when I was just a kid, I'm 47 now, I think. I decided I would go get a hot dog with the money I had, it was the best hot dog I’ve ever

Picture this if you will, suburban backyard with Die Dreigroschenoper blaring from a speaker. A wild-eyed, wild-haired, more than slightly pudgy female wielding a pickaxe and giggling maniacally as she swings repeatedly, chopping through a tree root; finally giving a triumphant, ululating Tarzan yell as she pulls the 5' root free from the earth.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…
