Many reservations lack the appropriate needs for its people. There is an increase of several major issues on some of the reservations that need proper attention. There are some people who know and understand the needs on these reservations. There are also some people who know what is happening on these reservations that choose to ignore it and do nothing. Still, there are some people who do not know what is happening on these reservations. While some reservations are doing well financially, there are some reservations that are not doing well financially. Some look at only the negative and turn a blind eye to the good positive attitudes of some of these people doing poorly on the reservations. Even the programs that are trying to better the living standards for the people living on these reservations in poverty conditions are lacking in funds and are being scrutinized. Native Americans on these reservations need the understanding of the government as well as the backing of the citizens of this great nation because of improper housing, poor nutrition, and poor medical and mental health care. With so little jobs available many of the people on the reservation are unemployed. The unemployment rate is 50%-80% on many of the reservations. This means no job which equals no money to support their families. Some reservation people find part time or spot jobs, but again these are very few and are only temporary jobs. If they rent their land to ranchers with cattle for money; they are not allowed to put up a fence around their residence. They have to allow the cattle to roam freely even around their living quarters. Again this puts the residents at a higher risk for increased health and hygiene problems.
