Personal Narrative: A Fatherless Kid

Decent Essays
I remember wondering where they had gone.
A mother who slept around and father who had done so much wrong.
In search of a hug, I waddled out and found my dad
Lying on the ground next to man with a gun in one hand.
The man had a look that had said he had done just something bad.

A few years later, going into school as a fatherless kid,
With an attitude that said I don’t care what I did
Made finding friends a little more harder
And everyone who passed would just fill with laughter
About a girl who was different that they could just point after,.

High school was a fresh start for kids like me.
Those who were given the chance to choose the good side
And wake up every morning filled with glee
Until one morning you run into those who know you

Lucky enough was I, at the age of 12 to receive my first glimpse outside the “box” (box is usually a term of seclusion that society or one’s self creates for a person or group of people). My family valued consistent work ethic, realism and had no means of providing more than food on the table. When, I was at the young age of 8 my whole life changed. My mother just disappeared!…
