According to Dunbar (1997), By time humans hit age 18 on average the know somewhere near 60,000 words, which means an average of 10 new words a day from their first birthday (p. 7). As humans we are the only species on the planet with a complex communication system allowing us to have a different kind of understanding and purpose to our life span than other living beings. According to Brunner, narratives shape our immediate experience and influencing our perception of what is real and what must be real (Bruner, 2010: p. 45). These narratives are simple apart of our genetic make-up and play an enormous role in our culture and in family life. The story always keep everyone acting as a participant engaged because of course my family are very animated in the delivery of it. During the family story telling of this event it is usually touched on by prior talk about some type of story of when we were kids. Which then the story is initiated by my mother looking over to me and brother and saying to the other people there “ask Marquis about the time I left his behind because he was moving to slow”. This something she does to ask for an extend turn on the floor because In order for the speaker to tell a story they need an extended turn on the floor (Mandelbuam, 1987). Allowing my brothers and I telling the sequence of events from different perspectives depicting the sequence of events piece by piece coherently tying it all together. Along the way of us telling this storytelling phase by my brothers and I sometimes you can hear my father chime in saying “she did not have the leave the boy she just always trying to teach him a lesson, but it is okay because I was there for him”. Of course, with my mother sarcastically responding back with something along the lines of “he was not the only one that he a game that day” referring to my
