Personal Narrative: A Fallen Limb

Improved Essays
A Fallen Limb A Catholic school is nothing more than just a routine. I put on the same uniform, sat in the same classroom, and was taught by the same teacher, every day. It was a place where our biggest worry was who had to serve at Church that day. Little did I know, that school and that Church would make me into the person I am today. I attended St. Clement from kindergarten until the eighth grade. In the eight years I was there, I had a total of just four teachers. It was a pretty small school, with an average of around seven kids per class. I had seven classes a day, including religion, with also a music or P.E. class depending on what day it was. We went to Church four times a week. It felt like a family rather than a school. I learned to always follow the Golden Rule, to always wear a belt with my uniform, so I would not have to go to the end of the lunch line, and to always get my blue book signed. They may not seem that important but these were the three things I always remembered every day at St. Clement. They taught me kindness, discipline, and responsibility. …show more content…
It was the first time I had to switch classes multiple times throughout the day and it was the first time I ever had to deal with a locker. It was a really big change for me, which personally I was not ready for. After the first day, I wanted to go back to St. Clement. Eventually, I found my place and things got better. Even at a public school I tried to stay strong in my faith, even though I did not have someone by my side leading me through it like I had in the past. But here I am today, in my last year of high school, enjoying every day of it. To think I would not be who I am today if it was not for my St. Clement

I’m sure someone has asked them self what it would be like to go to a whole new school at one point in their life, especially if they did not like their school much. I certainly had, but I most definitely not expecting to. Going through my memories of St. Mary’s is a large task. My first memory is of the first day of preschool. It’s a bit fuzzy, but I didn’t have glasses yet, so that accounts for the vague shapes and voices. However, one thing was clear, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I loved St. Mary’s. From kindergarten with Mrs. Casey to TAG reading with Ms. Casey, it has been a wild but fulfilling ride to high school.…

As an ignorant young adult, I wasn’t very outgoing; I was always the shy student, the one who always got bullied and I wouldn’t really talk to anyone. When I turned fourteen, my parents informed me I was to attend confirmation classes. I wasn’t exactly enthused at the new that I would attend it for two years. To add to these, wonderful news; my older brother was going with me too. Goody.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

It was the beginning of high school, the start of a new chapter in my life; after coming into the school, the mall looked like the feeding of the five thousand. St. Thomas More has over a thousand students, and every single one was there on that first day, trying to find the way to their new classes just like me. Walking through the halls of St. Thomas More with the unfamiliar smell of the classrooms reminded me of what lies ahead. I thought it was going to be difficult, because I wouldn’t see anyone I know. Fortunately, some of my old friends from St. Pius were in my gym class, so I was glad that I would not be alone in gym class.…

The Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus Almost every Sunday during my youth was spent at church with the family. On many occasions, we were simply up the road at the local Catholic Church but the most memorable moments that I can recall are the ones spent with family at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. I had always wondered why it looked the way it did until my continuing education later in life. This a very structurally beautiful building and it acts the part of worship and school all together.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…
