I was sitting at the kitchen table, eating chips and salsa, as I usually did when I get home from school. I was exhausted from a long day of high school. This was last year, when I was still going to public school. My school was in Purcellville, with by car is only 30 minutes away, but on the bus there were other children in other neighborhoods that had to be dropped off first. I was always the last one off the bus because I lived the farthest away, which meant I was always the first one on the bus in the morning. A lot of the time my bus ride would be about an hour. That means there were two hours of my day was spent on the bus, add that with a full day of school, you can imagine I was pretty tired when I got home. Which was probably the most stressful thing about school my freshman year. I would work on homework well into the night. a lot of my homework was online so I spent hours on the computer, using speech to text to get my history work done. I used speech to text because I have a disease that affects my hands and legs and makes it hard for me to write. Usually I'd work till about 10 o'clock at night, because typically that's when I finished, however there were some nights where I worked till midnight or 1 o'clock in the morning. When I finished doing history homework, I was ready to get started on English, this was at around 8 o'clock. I was already very exhausted. I literally felt like I was going to pass out, Fortunately for me I knew this English homework wouldn't be too terribly hard. I just had to read a short story out of my literary textbook and answer a few questions on the worksheet. Unfortunately for me, when I opened up my homework folder the English was not there. Naturally I panicked, because I was a perfectionist. I still am very much am a perfectionist. I don't like to take grades lower than a B, and I tend to get very anxious when taking tests or

I was sitting in history class when suddenly something very strange happened; the announcement speakers came on. To most people it would seem like it was a very typical day to day event to listen to announcements; but at my school announcements were rarely ever said. My classroom got completely silent; to the point where you could have heard a pin drop.…

Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…
