Personal Narrative: A Cross-Country Road Trip

Decent Essays
I would spend my summer doing something I’ve always wanted to do, take a cross-country road trip. Visiting monuments and big cities would probably be one of my favorite parts of the trip. I’ve never been to New York City and I haven’t seen much of Chicago. I would also want visit Washington D.C. and see all the museums, especially the Air and Space Museum. Also on my list of places is Disney. I’m not big on rides but I think it would be fun to just be in the park. My other place that I would want to go to is actually more of an event. Every August at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is the Drum Corps International Finals. Drum corps is basically professional marching band, minus woodwinds (flutes, clarinets, saxophones). As the New Year lurks around the corner, I often go to sleep wondering what opportunities might come my way in 2013. Maybe I’ll mend my ways and end up saving a fortune for a trip I’ve (secretly) been dreaming about. Or maybe, I’ll be tempted to spend what I’ve saved every now and then, and land myself in adventures I had never imagined, like I did in 2012. Maybe some unexpected press invites or sponsorships will come my way, or that mysterious uncle will finally appear and leave me a handsome inheritance! I hope Santa knows I’ve been a good girl *looks innocently* I know, only too well, that these are much too ambitious dreams for a single year, but as the Spanish would say, soñar no cuesta nada, to dream costs nothing.…

If I had the opportunity to go anywhere in the world, it would be the Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands and Texas are the exact opposite of one another. Texas unlike the Virgin Islands is filled with dead scorched lands. It is very rare one gets a chance to be able to see crystal clear water with all sorts of green exotic vegetation and wildlife. One condition is that if I were to go my family would also go.…

My vision started to fail on mile four of the six-mile hike. Small white specks flickered across my field of vision. If I could take a vacation anywhere it would probably be to the Bahamas, i've never been to far out of Indiana but going somewhere warm sounds amazing. I'd love to wake up to the sound and smell of the ocean, take a shower then go on a walk on the beach before breakfast. I would want to go out to eat at a new place every day just to get use to the type of food they eat everyday. I would stay up late and get up early for the first few days and spend long days at the beach, eating ice cream and just enjoying myself. Depending on how long we stayed I might sleep in a couple of days and go play basketball with some of the locals.…

The Plane Ride When I was nine my family started a move from the tranquil suburbs of San Jose, California to the desert city of Windhoek, Namibia, located in southern Africa. My parents were taking myself, along with my younger sister and brother, around the globe because they felt a calling from God to be missionaries. All of our possessions were sold off, including my much beloved toys, until everything we had could fit into eight large suitcases. These suitcases are what we carried to the airport as we prepared for our journey. I felt no small amount of apprehension and excitement in what lay ahead of me in the new country, but an event I would experience in the coming flight would forever change and shape my perspective of how I see the…
