Personal Narrative: A Class Field Trip To The Alamo

Improved Essays
I had never seen a ghost. But like they say, there is a first time for everything. It was a class field trip to the Alamo. I’ve always heard rumors that there have been ghost sightings there, but I didn’t believe it. I don’t believe in ghosts because nothing paranormal has happened to me. That day, we all were excited, yet a bit scared to see how things would turn out. As we all walked through the Alamo, our tour guide began to play around with us. In that moment I knew something ghostly would happen. As our tour guide told us information on the alamo, I blanked out while I was checking everything out. I wandered off and when I turned around to look at my group, I realized I had gotten myself lost. My heart started racing incredibly fast while

Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, author of the biographical narrative “A Journey Through Texas” written around the 1550s suggests that it is in the interest of the Spainish to continue to support exploration of the New World. He does this by showing the vast beauty of the New World and then dispelling the myths about Native's cruelty and brutality and by highlighting their fragility. Vaca seeks to dispel rumors that there may be nothing to gain in the New World and to alleviate fears the Natives will interfere with any exploration in order to secure continued funding for his goals. He writes primarily to those in Spain who would have the money and time to invest in the exploration of a country they have never seen.…

“Why I Chose Southwest” As a homeschooled high school senior, I am unable to take Advanced Placement courses, which are college-level classes taken at a high school. Students earn college credits by taking an exam at the end of the year. To remedy this, I decided to register at Southwest Tennessee Community College for dual enrollment classes. I chose Southwest for a multitude of reasons: to complete my high school education, to provide challenging courses in preparation for college, and to grant me college credit. I opted to take Pre Calculus, English Composition, and Anatomy & Physiology this semester.…

Here I am in Alamo, surrounded by thousands in the Mexican army of Santa Anna. We are desperately waiting for reinforcements; however, I fear that we may not be able to hold out long enough for there to be anything to reinforce. Neverthless, I am not discouraged. I am fighting for Texan independence. First of all, as an American who appreciate freedom, I find no favor with the tyranny and dictatorship of the leader of Mexico, Santa Anna.…

Paragraph My trip to Texas and New Mexico was fun and interesting. I went to Texas and New Mexico in 2014's summer with my family to visit my brother who lives in Texas, and to have vacations too. We went shopping, had barbecues, met people, went to church, and visited some cities such as Dallas, Arlington, El Paso, Ruidoso, and Alamogordo. We also visited some places like the Cowboys Stadium, Wet N' Wild Waterworld, the Museum of Space History, and White Sands National Monument.…

The only thing in the world that’s constant is war. It was an aphorism murmured in the sticky summer of 1864 as the Civil War tore America apart—and it was a truth that had only become more evident in my more than twenty years as a vampire. Every time I picked up the paper, there were stories of humans fighting humans: brawls on the streets of San Francisco, uprisings in India, insurrections all over Europe. And once blood had been shed and graves marked, they’d start all over again.…

Two thousand five hundred eighty-seven. I could take an eight-hour flight or a casual thirty-seven-hour drive, but no matter what, I am still two thousand five hundred eighty-seven miles away from my home in New Haven, Connecticut. Being a college freshman, trying to juggle class, homework, projects, studying, sleeping, eating, and athletics; finding the travel time to go home is an almost impossible task. Add in the cost of the $600 flights round trip and there is no chance a student can go visit home when they feel a little homesick. I on the other hand had never even fathomed being homesick from the frozen tundra I called home.…

It was 1981. I had just graduated from high school, and another four-year commitment to “education” was the last thing I wanted to do. The problem was that all those other things required money, and thus a job. Unfortunately, at that time the country was in a severe recession, and the only state that seemed immunized to it was Texas. I had to make the decision whether to leave my birthplace, my family, and my friends or to pursue a new life and adventure over a thousand miles away.…

Writing Sample Without a doubt in my mind the best class I have taken in the past two years of my academia was my high school Spanish class. I developed a very good relationship with my instructor Sr. K, that was probably the biggest reason it was my favorite class; However, the way his class was stuctured and how he taught contributed it to being my favorite class in the last two years. We would always start the day with a class plan so everyone would know what was going to take place in class and the next. Sr. k was very detailed in lessons…

I’ve always loved fall, but I hardly ever stop and appreciate how lovely the weather is, or how beautiful the leaves are. I never sit outside and look at the sky, laying out and taking in the seventy degree weather. I realized this last year, and so I went on a trip with a friend to a place north of my small town. A place where there was an abundance of shedding trees, and small creeks, and walking trails. About one year ago, I was invited to go on a trip with one of my best friends.…
