Its sunday morning and my parents announced let’s get a christmas tree and we go get the tree from the tree farm and the saw breaks and we have to get a new one and when we get the new one my brother decides to cut (down the tree.) My dad always cuts down the tree but this year I guess my brother gets (to cut the tree) down. So my brother and my dad get the tree (on the roof of the car) and when they do we have no ropes (to hold it down) on so my parents decide to put the tree where I was sitting but they put it next to me. So on our way driving home, and everything is going fine and all of a sudden my nose starts to bleed because of the tree hitting me in the nose with one of its branches. My Mom muttered, are you ok back there. Then

The play, ‘A Christmas Carol’, was performed at South Bend’s Civic theatre on Wednesday December 09. The play was directed by Kevin Dreyer, David Chudzynski, and was based off of the novel written by Charles Dickens. The main theme was about an older man, Ebenezer Scrooge; and his interactions from his past, present, and future ghosts. Christmas in Dixie It’s been a few years since I composed a Christmas letter because final grading always trumped my desire to celebrate the season and keep touch with friends and family. So, let’s catch up! As most of you know, I love mountains, creeks, moonlight (perhaps moonshine), walks in the woods, and bonfires.…

Hi Amy! I think it’s important to remember that when adults pass along information that it is as true as they know it to be. There are few pieces of knowledge that parents pass along knowing it to be untrue. These things are typically ideals like Santa and the Tooth Fairy. However, this misinformation I believe is a parent’s attempt to maintain their child’s sense of wonder and innocence of the world.…

Put one foot in front of the other. One of the most famous lines from the Christmas classic, Santa Clause is Coming to Town. A simple jingle sung across America every year come December 25th. A simple, innate action that billions of people take for granted every single day without even realizing it. The basic ability to walk is the single greatest ability us human's posses, and it is the reason why the human race was able to figuratively climb to the top of the food chain many years ago.…

In class, we had discussed the “Why Kids believe in Santa?” I was definitely interested in this topic, because I have a little brother and he is six years old. When he was younger it was easier to convince that santa was real. Now that he is six, he would ask more questions, and my mom and I had to keep this lie going. I ended up having to wrap presents at home, while my mom and little brother were not at home.…

This past Sunday I attended the school play, which was a comedy based along the storylines of The Christmas Carol. I noticed many people from the community brought their children along for the comedy. For someone who doesn’t really care for plays, or Christmas it was somewhat interesting to go into the play having doubts beforehand and coming out of it with a different view. The exposition started off the same as The Christmas Carrol.…

I distinctly remember getting up one Saturday morning during Christmas break and knowing from that instant that something was wrong. I had a feeling in my gut, I did not smell the cinnamon rolls baking in the oven, the TV was blaring, and my parents bed was not made. I walk out into the living room to find my mom and dad glued to CNN news channel on the TV. It had been two weeks since my brother’s last shore leave on deployment, which means it had been two weeks since we have heard from him. The TV was flashing and the headlines were running across the screen.…

The White Horse I just wanted the horse white. Not red, yellow, brown, green, or blue, but white. Maybe following the directions created a more soothing outcome, but try telling that to a stubborn five year old who just wants things done their way. Instructions blocked creativity and adults tell kids that uniqueness creates personality.…

    A Christmas Carol Critique

Upon seeing A Christmas Carol on the night of Friday, November 18th, I had what I thought to be a firm understanding of the Charles Dicken’s classic. It was until the show was over that I realized my previous interpretation was completely senseless, with little to no opinion deriving beyond the script. As I dove into the performance in the Joan C, Edwards playhouse, I made personal connections that I had never made before when watching other adaptions of A Christmas Carol, in particular Scrooge (1970), my father’s favorite. Every detail of this performance aided in my overwhelming positive review, asserting this play as my favorite of all the revisions I have seen.…

On December 9th at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre, my sister and I went to go see San Juan College’s production of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The interpretation of this play was directed by Dallas Padoven, a guest artist. The plot of A Christmas Carol is that Ebenezer Scrooge thinks it's all humbug, criticizing his faithful clerk, Bob Cratchet, and his cheerful nephew, Fred, for their views. Later, Scrooge encounters the ghost of his late business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns that three spirits will visit him this night. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey through his past, present and future in the hope of transforming his bitterness.…

For as long as I can remember my great-grandparents have owned a wood burning stove to heat their house. My great-grandpa, my mother, my brother, and I had always been the ones to retrieve and split the wood for their stove. Since my great-grandpa and mother have gotten older, the responsibility of this laborious task has been handed down to my brother, Griffin, and myself. Retrieving and splitting wood is a long, tiring, and cold process. First, as with most things we must start at the source, the tree.…

Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…
