Things had changed in the beast’s castle. Though the world outside was always shrouded in snow and night, the halls of the keep were always full of candlelight. Rosa and the beast rapidly became great friends with each other in the days following the shift into winter. Every day from bell to bell, they seldom left each other’s sides.
“…And that’s more or less a complete history of the United States,” Rosa said, finishing her lecture on American history as they both stepped back into the entrance foyer, lit up by a restored crystal chandelier.
“Your land is like Almeria. They have many revolutions and a new president every five years,” said the beast.
“Almeria was to the south right? Somewhere on the Eastern continent?” she asked.

This was supposed to be my day. I was going to be king. I am the king, it seems. I have no kingdom anymore. I don’t know where I am. I don’t know what happened. Someone cut me badly. I need a healer. Where is Leonora? I can’t find her anywhere. I’ve been searching for hours but the sky hasn’t changed at all. Maybe I’m going blind. All I remember was taking her back up to my tower and her screaming at something in the mirror…What the hell is going on?
“Fourteenth day of the last moon. The castle is totally empty. The sky is still dark outside. Is this a nightmare? My wound keeps getting worse. I tried binding it with my cloak but it isn’t working. I need help.
“Fifteenth day of the last moon. There’s no food or water anywhere. No life. No sun. I want to get out. I want Leonora.
“Sixteenth day. Something is changing. My wound keeps hurting. I don’t understand it. My head hurts too, right on the sides above my ears. It’s as if something is trying to rip its way out of my skull. It hurts so badly. This doesn’t look right. Please help me Enoa. What did I do to deserve

As I manage to lift myself up from my bed, I quickly remember that today is the day Papa leaves for his yearly hunting trip. Leaping to my feet, I dash to make sure he hasn't left yet. I slowly come to a stop when I see him fast asleep on the floor with an empty bottle of liquor placed in his hand.…

Kimberly yawned furiously throughout Miss Witherson’s painfully long explanation of the relative motion of the earth and the luminiferous ether. Trying not to plunge into the relaxing abyss of sleep she dazed out of her window slowly drifting into her subconscious. This was something Kimberly cherished doing. My six word memoir was “Fought through the labyrinth of solitude” because I wasn’t really alone physically because I had my family but none of them understood me or I couldn’t show them I true self, like who I really am. It wasn’t really easy to do because I felt insecure even though I shouldn’t feel that way. I stayed true to myself and I kept that in mind and it gave me the strength to push through. So mentally I was me but outside I was a totally different person that everybody expected me to be but even though I had some faith that that would end someday.…

As a child, my parents shaped me into their ideal image of a little girl. The formation of their ideals actually started long before I first opened my eyes in the hospital. My story began back in 1988, when my parents met while working at Walt Disney World as cultural exchange workers from Canada. Their romance is a fairy tale. They had their first date at the Magic Kingdom, they spent all their days off on a Florida beach, and they experienced the technical magic that Disney is so well-known for.…

After intermission, I still didn’t go on, so I hung out backstage with the rest of my cast, minus Radames, Aida, and Amneris because they were on stage singing a song together in three-part harmony. Before the song ended, I waited backstage for Aida. When she got there, we walked in, me walking in front looking all around and being stealthy and Aida walking in after me like a normal person. I turned to the jailer guarding Amonsaro, our queen, and said “A word with the prisoner.” “Alright Mereb, but be quick about it”…
