Personal Narrative: A Change In High School

People sometimes forget that not everyone is capable of being in a high school environment. People are so focused on succeeding, that they forget it is okay to fail. Moving in with my mother was a choice I needed to make. A new house, life, and beginning, was exactly what I needed. Moving meant a change in schools. I became the new kid at Lake Gibson High. I experienced major anxiety mixed with major depression, which made it difficult for me to fit in and work properly. This was not a new challenge for me. From the time I was in kindergarten I suffered with anxiety resulting me being assigned an ESE case manager to help me navigate through school days and requirements.

Months passed until the anticipation finally shot me. I started calling in September. After many calls, I received the call I had so eagerly been waiting for. My orientation for Fresh Start was August 10th at 10:00 in the morning. I was filled with so much delight I woke up bright and early on that Wednesday morning. I was surprised that I was one of the first through the cafeteria doors of Fresh Start, where the orientation was held. I met with my teacher and took notes about the school. I have a second chance at getting a diploma if I pace myself and work hard. Continuing this program day by day, pushing myself a little closer to my goals.
