Prior to being appointed to serve in full time ministry, I served in a half-time appointment but also maintained a secular job to help provide for income. There were occasions in which I felt conflicted by the needs of both employers. Having been appointed to serve full time has allowed me the opportunity to be free and available to serve those under my care when it is needed. Shortly after being appointed to serve full time, there was a member of my congregation who had continual health issues that brought her to death’s doorstep on six different occasions over the next year. One of the most difficult things I have ever done is decide to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My educational and career goals have changed a lot throughout the years; I have wanted to do everything from directing films to having the presence necessary to address the United Nations General Assembly. It seems like a wide range of possibilities but one thing they all have in common is that they all require an audience, not for fame or riches, but to have a voice that can reach those who need to hear it. The last two weeks in July I went to Colorado. The first week was for family vacation and the second week my brother and I met with our church for a mission trip with an organization called Global Encounters. There have been several factors that has contributed to my desire To Be a Minister. I am currently pursuing that goal at Ohio Christian University (hereafter, OCU). I find that while the curriculum is exceptional, it is at the same time cost prohibitive. Colorado Christian University (hereafter, CCU) offers a quite similar to program; yet, CCU is more affordable. This is the current situation which influences my decision to become a Minister.…
