My mother had decided to send me away to a summer camp by the name of Camp Y-Noah. I would stay here for a whole week and live in a cabin with other girls my age. I was 10 years old at the time, afraid and excited about this new experience. Three days into my stay something horrible happened that would change my life forever. The girls and I were climbing up this steep hill to get to our archery class. I started crying and saying with short breath I couldn’t walk any longer. My counselor thought it was a joke at first and kept telling me to keep walking. With tears in my eyes I collapsed to the ground. I was scared and didn’t know what was happening to me, my counselor picked me up and took me back to the cabin to relax. While the other girls went on to archery class, I was laying down at the bottom of my bunk hoping and praying to get better. I don’t remember when I fell asleep but I do remember waking up and screaming I can’t breathe. My counselor was afraid of my state of health and rushed me to the medical center on camp grounds. Later that night, the night of my mother’s birthday, I was rushed and emitted into the hospital. The doctors had diagnosed me with asthma and explained that I was having an asthma attack during my sleep. If I had never woken up during my sleep, I wouldn’t be here
