Coming from a family with numerous members working within the health field, I naturally became inclined to do the same. As a beginning middle school student, I knew that I wanted to work in a hospital setting so I narrowed my options to becoming a pharmacist or a nurse. However, after shadowing my mother who was a nurse in my junior year of high school, I instantaneously knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the field of nursing. The greatest experience that confirmed this decision was interacting with the patents that were ill and battling with life threatening diseases while at my mother’s job. I felt obligated to find varied ways to assist them with overcoming their illnesses even if it was as simple as being an active listener to the
