Im sure according to many like Bill O'riley, America has and is doing enough and if we cant improve our situations then its our own fault. I agree with that in terms of meaning personal fortitude has a lot to do with the ability to self improve but, once a person is in the cycle of poverty, getting out isn't as easy as getting a better job. Also that cycle perpetrates the recreation of that cycle in future generations. Poverty is systemic. You cannot eradicate it with only superficial treatments, it has to be a multi-pronged approach and would take years to actualize. First, we need to address our education system and provide all children equal high quality education and extends into the High School years and at least to first 2 year college. That will create a quality human capital to maintain high production. We need to provide free preventative health care to all Americans including birth control regardless of religion and dispel the notion that sex is for marriage ONLY. Preventative treatment is cheaper than combating say cervical cancer and birth control is cheaper than birthing a human being. Let us also address the fact that Arkansas has a teen birth rate that is 70% higher than the rest of the US as reported in by a January of 2015 article in thecitywire.com. Women and children are more likely to live in poverty and teen pregnancy is proven to reduce a woman’s chance to earn a living. I could go on, but addressing these two issues would make a huge improvement on number of woman living in
