People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

All hopes and expectations of playing in the high school team were shattered.…

During the three nights of tryouts, I was always the first one to finish the sprints, I hustled on every play, and left everything I had on the court. Confident in the way I played, I checked the results when they came out–I had been cut for the second year in a row. My heart dropped and millions of thoughts ran through my mind–I should stop playing basketball, I wasted all my time on something useless, hard work does not pay off. After pondering on these thoughts for several days, I decided to rededicate myself to the sport; I found a more competitive AAU team to play for, IYB Basketball and Wayne PAL Wolfpack, and found myself a trainer. Everyday after finishing my schoolwork, I either went to the gym to lift and play basketball or went to an AAU practice or game.…

One of my greatest assets is dedication. While I was not the best basketball player on my high school team, I worked constantly to perfect my jump shot. I wanted to be a much better basketball player, and was willing to put the work in to improve my game every day. I made the Varsity basketball team as a freshman, but didn't see the court at all.…

I don't like many things. But one thing is for sure I like playing basketball. I like the nosy the crowd makes when you first hit a shot, all the possible game winners, the sound the net makes when you hit a swish, the intensity of a competitive game, and the buzzer of relief when you come out with a win. I have been playing basketball ever since my dad taught me how to shoot a basketball when I was 4 yrs old and he would try teaching me for hours,we can be watching college basketball or professional basketball and he´ll say stuff like ¨did you see how he shoots or that is how I´m going to get you to shoot like¨.One of the big reasons why my dad wanted me to play basketball was because he enjoys the sport as well as I do. Basketball it isn't just a sport to me,to me basketball is a way for me and my dad to…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…
