Personal Narrative: A Career In High School

I am very grateful for those who have influenced me over my high school years whether it be my teachers, advisors, parents, or friends. Although all have had a great impact on my life at some point, I have to say the person who had the biggest significance on my life was easily my 8th grade teacher, National Honor Society Advisor, and mentor: Mrs. Mindi Phelps. Having first met her as my 8th grade English teacher, I did not know how much this woman would mean to me now, as a senior in high school. She believed in me and pushed me out of my comfort zone, was there for all my successes, as well as my failures, and still is to this day even though she moved to Florida at the end of my junior year.
I first met Mrs. Phelps at the beginning of my 8th grade year as my English teacher. She was the National Honor Society (NHS) advisor and called me over along with a few other kids in my class in order to introduce the concept of National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). I …show more content…
I earned the role of president of NSHS and secretary and chairperson of Mini-THON, but I did not stop there. I took AP Biology in addition to AP English as well as Anatomy and Physiology as an extra core class to be more prepared for later on, and also joined Annville-Cleona’s girls’ tennis team to occupy some free time in the fall. I also ventured a little farther from Annville, this time about 25 minutes away, and found a new and improved job as a restaurant hostess at the What If… of Hershey. Now with track and field starting up again, I am training hard to make it my best season yet and hopefully becoming one of the girls’ team captain. Although my senior year has been my busiest year yet, I still have managed to uphold the National Honor Society pillars, to maintain high scholastic standings, be of service to the school and community, display excellent leadership skills, and be of sound
