Just a little bit of background before I tell my story; I had just graduated grad school with a degree in Child Psychology, I was a fresh faced 26 year old female from the big city. Since, I lived in such a big city for most of my life, I understood the dangers and cautions one should have of society and how one should be cautions in certain situations.

I had settled in quickly, met a few neighbors, learned my new home was 20 minutes from the hospital, which looked like any o' hospital; all white in color with doctors and nurses running around from here to there to god knows where.

The day my coworkers and I heard about a 9 year old boy named Danny, they all started to get... Weird after that. Like, the pure mention of his name and everyone would get into a defensive state. Anytime I asked what was going on or what it is about him, they would brush it off saying I was only seeing things. After a while, I convinced myself maybe I

I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

Devastated. No word better encompassed my feelings. The first AP Environmental test of the semester had been returned and slowly but surely, the optimistic faces that littered the classroom had dimmed to faces of despair. My eyes frantically roamed the scantron that was loaded with red marks indicative of me selecting one wrong answer after another. It was simply inconceivable to me that the place where a glittering A was supposed to be instead held a vapid 73.…

With a little bit of convincing I was on board and ready to embark on a new adventure that changed my life.…

This has strongly made an impact on my life and how I am perceived by my friends and others. My mother was very consistent with boundaries however; she was always open to discussion. Live the life that you want to live, but don’t complain about it if I didn’t turn out like you want it to. This been my personal philosophy since I’ve been in college. I had made many mistakes in my life, and I live by those decisions, because I was the one who made them. Many people make choices that will affect their current situation, rather than making decisions that will affect their future. It’s best to plan ahead, so that you’ll be able to have the life that you always wanted.…

When choosing an occupation, it is common for individuals to chase after the job with more pay and less physical labor. However, the jobs with higher salary require more education, more logical thinking, and more self- driven. Unfortanatley, not everyone can afford to attend college and land in a high paying job. In today's society, occupations are based on prestige and judged on the order they rank. From viewing the occupational prestige table on page 227, a cab driver compared to a high school teacher earns less prestige in which I personally agree due to the fact that a cab driver requires less education and abstract thought than becoming certified in teaching.…

The reason I wrote this comic was because of my experience of working over the summer with young children. There were several events that pushed me toward having this experience. Through working with young children where I was a counselor at a summer camp I learned the how much people evolve since childhood. The first experience that I had that reminded me of my childhood was when I was at the park…
