Being a worker bee, I am known as the busiest bee in the hive. I have a number of task to do in and around the hive.
My first half of life I spend in and around the hive. This begins with my first job cleaning brood cells for newly emerged bees, so the queen can lay fresh eggs. Once the eggs hatch, I then become a nursemaid and feed the larva. As my wax glands begin to work I become a builder and create new combs and cap cells. I now have to move on and pack pollen into storage cells, transferring and ripening honey. I also spend some time patrolling the hive, so if danger comes near I can defend the queen and colony. As a worker I also have to act as an air conditioner, controlling the temperature of the hive.
