As a little girl the things i wanted most in my life were to become the first female in the NBA, marry Morris Chestnut, and to make enough money to buy my mother all the houses we ever got evicted from and all the companies that ever fired her. Since I now know i will never be in the NBA, and I’ve probably sent Morris enough fan mail since the third grade to obtain a restraining order, I've decided to help others achieve their sports dreams while still managing to make my last dream come true. Being a sports agent is something I've thought long and hard about. Not only will I be holding the wellbeing of my family in my hands but also the wellbeing of the athletes that spend countless amounts of their time on the court, in the weight room, …show more content…
I figured if i was going to be negotiating larges amounts of money i needed to know how to handle and keep my business afloat. I decided the first class i was going to take was accounting. Most students would have signed up for business management, but i thought in a different direction and decided that I would learn to work with the books before the people. As the course took off i realized that not only starting a business it tough but keeping it open is even more difficult. My lessons started off with posting and journalizing simple transactions that all businesses eventually go though. But as the year went on I learned how to read sales, see trends in consumers, and how to effectively use financial management to grow sales and make a profit. I knew eventually i would have to put the calculator down, exit excel and and show my charm. So i took a another course that would be very effective in my career. I took a psychology and sociology to get the client interaction down. I learned about people's actions and reactions and trends in certain areas of society. This course helped me realized that to make a person's dreams come true you have to understand the person and what they come from. I know that not everyone is not given the same opportunities and are made up of different classes. But we live in America and exogamy does not apply. I will be …show more content…

An Agent of Competency As children, many young boys and girls watch sports on television with the hopes of one day being the one who is scoring the game winning touchdown, or shooting the game winning shot at the buzzer, or landing the perfect 10 to bring home the gold. Upon growing up, many of these same children realize only a select few will achieve that goal and must look for other ways to earn a living. One career path that can be taken that allows one to be part of the sport they love is that of a professional sports agent. Professional sports agents are the individuals who represent the interests of the players they represent in all business related activity, such as contract negotiations, personal appearances, legal issues, and…

I am currently a baseball player for Lower Columbia College where I am also pursuing a general education AA with the expectation of transferring to a four-year college or university in fall of 2016. I signed with the Red Devils in 2014 while still in high school, receiving a scholarship to play for them during my college freshman and sophomore years. Although I originally planned on majoring in education to teach math and science at the middle and high school levels, my interests have shifted to focus on sports therapy/physical therapy due to my involvement in sports. I have been playing baseball since I was seven (7) years old, dedicating a large percentage of my time and energy to be the best player possible. Because I was always on the…

The first semester of my junior year I was enrolled in a sports medicine class. We began the class with researching specific career paths and majors. The types of jobs available under sports medicine seemed right up my alley. Many of the work hours are spent outside, I would be able to watch sports, be around and help people, learn more about the human body, and how to assist in healing and preventing injuries. After that first day in class I was absolutely sure about what I wanted to do with my life.…

Making It to the Big Time I am Vincent Crabtree. When I was a freshman in High School, I participated in an activity called “Winter Percussion”. It was much like marching band, but it took place during the winter and spring season, and it featured a smaller ensemble composed mostly of percussive instruments. Throughout the season, we had practice almost nightly, working to put together a show that would be performed in competition with other drumlines.…

When I had just begun playing ice hockey, in 6th grade, a start time roughly 6 years behind my teammates, I was thrown on to a competitive team right away. Instantly embarrassed by how poor my performance was compared to everyone else’s, I wanted to quit right away. However, I strived to become better, and put in all the practice I could, guided by tutorials, my coaches, and even local camps. Now, 6 full years later, I am a vital competitor for my team. I have become so much faster, stronger, and smarter than I once was.…

Once I turned fourteen, I started writing about sports and becoming really interested in doing something with the knowledge I was getting after spending some much time watching sports. I would like to think that I could be classified as a sports analyst because my knowledge was so vast from the NHL to the NBA to the MLB and there are a lot of people that would agree with me on this sentiment. Even though I loved seeing the towering home runs and the 360° slam dunks and of course, the last second hail maries; what really made me so invested in sports was the eccentric idea that anyone and everyone could watch and play a sport without judgement. This was the pivotal idea that made me want to become a sports analyst and is still the thing I think about every time I tune into a game. Being able to hear the heartfelt stories told by historic commentators like Vin Scully talk about a Cuban player’s perilous experience traveling through Latin America by smugglers and having to stay in Mexico for over a month and finally make it to the major leagues and dominating them is something that makes me want to watch sports every…
