I remember when I enrolled here at San Antonio College and being a non-traditional student. There was a lot of remedial reading, writing and math I would have to complete before I could proceeded and work toward a degree concentration. My Original major was Business Management and with all the remedial math I would have had to complete including additional math requirements. I may not have always agreed with my Social Worker but now as an adult I understand why and how they can help people.
In addition, with meeting with Mr. Kelly he helped to replant a seed of thought for me to reconsider. One reason I did not declare Social Worker as a major is because of the cost of tuition at Our Lady of the Lake and Texas State.
However, Mr. Kelly informed me of the Title V Grant and agreement with Alamo College has with Texas State and Our Lady of the Lake. Mr. Kelly gave me a packet to read, The San Antonio College Social Work Student Path to Success Packet and other material. Over the weekend I plan to read the material and let it sit in my mind and heart.
I went to my Aces account and checked my Alamo GPS and the courses I have already completed would not cause to much damage in the amount of courses I would have left and would need to take for either Sociology or Social Work. I understand that they are completely two different degree plans but in the end if I did change my major to Social Work there would be only two extra courses I would need to
