I have seen how a school counselor can provide a student with an opportunity to grow into a successful adult that is prepared to meet life’s challenges. My short-term goal is to become a Department head of the School Counseling department. I see the need of the School Counseling department to change in Danbury to align with the district's need. I believe that the role of a School Counselor in Danbury has evolved over the years in order to meet the needs of the population and I would like to be part of that continuous change. I have had the opportunity to write curriculum for the advisory program at the middle school level and it has truly given me an appreciation for how we can do so much more. My goal is to provide all learners the support they need to access the curriculum. I truly believe that we have some phenomenal teachers in our district that can mentor others. I think we need to capitalize on the skills in our district. I think that it would engage other teachers to learn from their peers and possibly open the door for them to try something new that they normally wouldn’t. In addition to providing teachers with meaningful professional development to improve their teaching practices, I would like to push the schools in our district to engage more with the community.
