Personal Narrative: A Career As A Role Model Nursing

Improved Essays
Historically compared with other races, African Americans and Hispanics have been routinely denied access to equal educational opportunities and entry into shared public spaces. That needs to change! Determined to circumvent and desist the deplorable truth of healthcare and educational inequality, I am committed to giving back and serving as an advocate for the underserved communities as a future African American nurse. My volunteer experiences in several sciences and health programs have greatly influenced my career goal of becoming a role model nurse and, thus, paving the way in making me one of the forefront nurses, advocating for the improvement of health equality and health interventions.

Just like a planted seed, it takes progress for it to grow until it reaches its full potential. Same with doing service, the sisters of Newark must start service from the foundation we were born and raised in order to see great, beautiful results that Newark and similar places deserve. Just like Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Without my three-year service at the Newark Museum, I would not have had that solid foundation needed to help serve similar communities affected by lack of health interventions and resources, like Trenton, NJ, and would have delayed my progress needed to achieve progress, which our community deserves. My service taught me that no matter where I perform my service at, I should always reflect from where I came from, Newark, NJ, because that’s my only motivator in helping serve the underserved people, mostly especially in low-class societies. I would not have successfully completed the service I invested in the Newark community without the help from my peers and authorities, you provided resourceful help needed to move forward. Importantly, the sisters of Newark should continue providing that resourceful support in order to …show more content…
In doing so, I will be moderately prepared when applying for a doctoral-nursing anesthesiology program. I am also looking forward to communicating with administrators, nursing students, and peer participants, who will provide the versatile support and encouragement in implementing more health and fitness programs for young children, adolescents, and adults. In the future, as an African American health care professional, I will make a significant contribution to the underserved communities and will be one of the forefront nurses that will advocate for the improvement of health equality and health interventions. It is my understanding that in the year 2020, there will be a national shortage of physicians and nurses in the United States. This unfortunate reality has inspired me to treat populations that already lack health care
