As I begin to gather all of my pieces together throughout my nursing education, interactions in clinical settings with my patients, families and professionals I have created my own personal nursing philosophy. The dream of becoming a nurse reflects back to when I was a child. I was the daughter who was always there to translate, book appointments and relay messages to my parents during doctor appointments. While feeling concerned on helping my parents I began to also feel the need to help others. This is when I decided to pursue my career as a nurse. I have gained the knowledge, belief and passion to advance in my career from a student nurse to become a registered nurse.
The four focus points as a nurse comes from the individual, their health, the environment along with the nursing process. Becoming a nurse is giving the respect, trust and safe care needed to whomever crosses your path regardless of their race, religion or beliefs. We are required to be aware of whats happening around us. This is a way of safe and effective practice. “The registered nurse practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.” (ANA, 2017) As we provide the care needed, we must take into considerations common day to day interactions that a patient may be exposed to therefore we shall promote safe wellness along with guidance to teaching our patients better habits. Taking the extra step to sanitize, throw away hazardous waste and taking precautions if needed prior to entering a patient’s room makes a huge difference. Take action! These infectious diseases can spread easily and may weaken another patients immune system. Last but not least handwashing every time!
