A Physical Therapist is a licensed professional who helps injured or ill people improve movement and deal with pain (“Summary,” 2015). Some of the job responsibilities are, reviewing patient’s medical history and notes from other health professionals. Diagnosing the patient’s by observing them and asking them their personal concerns (“What do physical therapist do,” 2015). Develop a specific plan, set goals, and determine expected outcome of the plan. What is an Occupational therapist? An Occupational therapist is also a licensed professional who treat injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (“Occupational therapy,” 2015). Some of the job responsibilities are very similar to those of a Physical therapist. For example, an Occupational therapist also reviews the patient’s medical history, set goals and develop a treatment plan. (“What do Occupational therapist do,” 2015) One of the differences are Physical Therapist use exercises as part of their treatment plan. Occupational therapist use activities as part of their treatment plan. For example, an Occupational therapist uses getting dress as an activity for a stroke patient. Also “Evaluate a patient’s home or workplace and, on the basis of the patient’s health needs, identify potential improvements, such as labeling kitchen cabinets for an older person with poor memory” (What do Occupational Therapist do,” 2015). Also recommend special equipment such as wheelchairs and educate the patient on proper use of the equipment (“What do Occupational therapist do,” 2015).
