I wanted to make sure that the occupation would most likely fit my personality and lifestyle rather than just picking random careers. I took a moment to think about what I have always wanted to be when I was in my younger years. The answer was simple, a Marine Biologist. That was the quickest and easiest career choice I picked that I wanted to learn more about because I have always had an interest in that particular occupation. Throughout my whole life, I have always told people that I wanted to move to the coast and be a Marine Biologist. I absolutely love spending time with animals, particularly marine animals. I don’t think that I would have ever found this occupation by taking my results from the self-assessments to consideration. I have never had a final result that pointed me in that direction or anywhere close. This could certainly mean that becoming a Marine Biologist just isn’t the correct occupation for me, but it could also mean that the self-assessments just don’t give me a well-rounded

If I could have any career in the world I would be a forensic medical examiner. I remember being in pre-school or kindergarten and so on teachers and parents would ask what we wanted to be when we grew up, being kids everybody would most likely say famous, or president of the United states but as long as I can remember I have always wanted to work in the medical field. Many of my family members worked or, still work in the medical field, I have always looked up to them as a kid. Later, in life I found something else I was interested in. Three careers that would be well suited for me are a cost estimator, an operations research analyst, and a conservation officer. Two of these careers involve quantitative thinking and mathematical skills, while the third career involves enforcing laws and regulations and working outdoors. Throughout the years my vision for what I would do for the rest of my life has changed over time (as it does with all children and young adults.) I would look into the future and see myself floating in space, fighting criminals, or owning my own business. While the later option still remains a goal of mine, the formers have dissipated away into Oblivion. As I matured and developed I realized how important family was in life. Not just close relatives, but ancestors as well.…

Growing up I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to do as a profession. No inclination of something that amazed me or pushed me toward it. I eventually chose what I thought would be a good stable career simply because it would be a financially good choice but it never seemed like something I could stick with or love. I discounted anything from the medical field because everyone was going there and I didn't want to be a lost number of people rushing to the same career, I wanted to be a little different.…

Marine biology has always been a passion of mine ever since I first heard about it when I was four years old. My family has a deep-running connection to the ocean so when they realized how interested I was in science, they suggested marine biology. I loved the concept of studying unknown creatures that sit miles below the surface of our planet that no human has ever seen. I’ve read many textbooks and field guides over the years, which started as an amusing pastime. However, the more I read, the more I became completely and utterly engrossed in the subject which eventually shaped me into what I am today.…

It was 2015, I was assisting my uncle, a veterinarian, in an orthopedic surgery on a dog. The air smelt heavily of alcohol, used for sterilization, my arms were starting to ache as I held the dog’s leg steady for amputation. The rush of adrenaline I felt kept my hands motionless, as I watched my uncle line up the bone cutters. The pressure built between my fingers till I felt the final snap of the bone. It was in this moment, and many moments proceeding, that I made my decision to pursue a career in the veterinarian field.…

At gatherings adults would always ask me what I wanted to become. I would say something about how I was interested in becoming a vet or a teacher and they would smile and at how lovely that was. Such a simple question, yet, if I was to be completely honest the answer was that I had no clue. That is, until the start of my sophomore year of high school when I decided to take AP Psychology. I didn’t know too much about the subject…

If one were to ask a young girl want she wants to be when she grows up, she would proudly say a princess, or maybe a rock star. I’ve never been the typical girl though and my answer was always different. Some days I wanted to be a dog trainer or a zookeeper and being a marine biologist wouldn’t be too bad. In middle school I realized what all these jobs had in common; animals. I knew whole heartedly that I wanted to work with them, to improve not only their health and welfare, but also that of the community they were in.…
