Personal Narrative: A Career As A Guest Services Captain

Improved Essays
It is 3pm at AMC Studio 30, I clock into the Guest Services station and I am ready to set things moving. The Guest Services Specialist could be regarded as the ship captain who controls the concessions deck, tickets, and the cleaners of the poop deck, or the used theaters. A job like this can never be done alone, even if there are only a couple of people on board. "Clean up theater 7," I say, "replace the ticket paper," I demand. Orders, orders, orders are always traced back to me, Guest Services Captain.

The dark night is beginning to approach and numerous people appear to partake in our journey that will end after the dead of night. I cannot do this alone, the people are too numerous to suffice. I seek assistance from my skilled film crew

Almost four years ago, I entered Clackamas High School as a confused, shy, awkward freshman. Soon after entering the hallways of this school, I was assigned to a Freshman Assurance group and met with the group leaders. My group leaders were vivacious seniors, who were condescending and gave very little advice on high school. I felt a little intimidated by them, and the activities that they led made most of the freshmen in our group uncomfortable. They told us about their craziest stories and about the teachers who weren't of the most pleasant experience.…

BSAFE is a summer program for kids from kindergarten to 5th grade, where they are taught school subjects and go on a field trip every day. A JCIT is a junior counselor-in-training, so my job was to assist the leader with the kids and clean and prepare activities for them. JCITs are closer in age to the kids, so they usually confided in us with their questions and concerns. Being a JCIT helped me gain a lot of patience and allowed me to learn to help with things even when I'm not directly asked to do so.…

The same thing happens when the employee enter acts with leader, the leader says I would rather avoid this guy also. So as a manager and a leader how this theory should be applied, the leader should nurture high quality exchanges with all employees, rather than concentrating on differences. Moreover, leaders should focus on ways to build trust and respect with all employees resulting in the entire work group becoming an in-group.
