High school was a long journey, but through the years it has inspired to be part of something bigger. When I was in middle school, I played volleyball; it was my favorite activity. I injured myself and could no longer be involved with sports of any kind; this destroyed me. This is where that something bigger comes into play; I began joining clubs and organizations, actually every club and organization Burton Schools had to offer: Student Council (StuCo), Kansas Association for Youth (KAY Club), Social Norms, Future Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and Youth as Resources (YAR).
I managed to stay involved with all of these for the past six years. A few of which, I managed to work my way up into the leadership area. I became a District Officer for District G in FCCLA, I was Vice President of StuCo, and I became a KAY Board member, as well as holding a class office all four years of high school. Each of these activities have contributed to my understanding of life with a new perspective. Each group has its own focuses, but most of them are focused on community services. Within these organizations, I get the opportunity to witness firsthand what it is like to be a leader and to do what is needed for the community. No matter who is in the group, if the part is small or big, each person is always included in the projects and decision making process, especially in a school this small.This has taught me how to always include everyone and to always listen when someone has something to say. Not only have these people and groups encouraged me to set goals for myself that are extremely ambitious, but they have also helped me to believe in myself while striving to attain my
