I have known Gabby Barry for a little over a year now as her College Counselor at GSSM, a small public two-year residential school for students from across the state of South Carolina. I find her to possess all of the above qualities and more.

It turned out that having to focus on what the horse was doing help Gabby learn to focus better in school. Prior to applying and being selected to attend GSSM, she attended A. C. Flora High School in Columbia, SC. While there she a member of Key Club, Young Democrats and Kershaw 4-H Club (President her sophomore year). Here at GSSM, a member of the Beta and National Honor Society, Math Club, volunteers at the Humane Society and is Vice-President of Bring a Smile to Service (a club that sends letters to our military men and women).
This past summer Gabby had the opportunity to conduct research at the Medical University of South Carolina under the mentorship of Dr. Andy Wessels. She was exploring the role of primary cilia on epicedial cells located in the atrioventricular junction. From this great opportunity Gabby learned that she definitely would like to major in Biology, however full time research is not her career goal.
As you can tell, Gabby is dedicated to her academics but understands the importance of being involved outside the realm of academics. She willingly gives of her time to help others and will continue to do so at her chosen college. I hope you will strongly consider admitting Gabriella “Gabby” Barry to your fine
