Personal Narrative: A Career As A Christian Counselors

Christian Counselors often use skills from the field of secular psychology and counseling, they recognize that the Bible, not psychology, is the final authority. "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness" (2 Peter 1:3). A Christian counselor's major strategy is to help their clients substitute biblical truth for error as they go about their day-to-day lives. Altho being a Christian Counselor has its drawbacks, it is the job for me because of the benefits it offers.

Christian Counselors have excellent job prospects for clergy (6% increase in employment expected from 2014-2024). Clergy members may provide spiritual counseling without a state license. You're able to share your spiritual beliefs while helping others overcome difficult problems. As a christian counselor you can be Self-employed or work an a clergy.

Counselors outside of the clergy must hold a master's degree, A state license is required, Relatively low pay ($43,950 mean wage in 2014), and evening and weekend work may be required. To get a masters degree you must go to school for at least six years. You also must pass a state test to receive a license that is required. Though you may be a self employed you still might have to working late nights and or weekends to accommodate a client's schedule.

I hope to go to South Florida Bible College to get my masters, I will be going to SFBC for a little over six years. After, I wish to apply at the Christian Counselors of OKC as a counselor, and eventually own my own practice. This career is ideal for me because I love to help those who need help and love to show the glory of God. What better way to do it than becoming a Christian
