Personal Narrative: A Career As A Cardiologist

Decent Essays
Since I was four, I dreamed of being a “heart doctor and fixing the world's broken hearts.” That dream quickly turned into my ultimate goal of being a Cardiologist. A goal that I am working toward every day and I am getting closer than I ever dreamed possible. I believe that being a Healthy Dawg Ambassador would help to further this lifelong dream of serving others. I am ecstatic for all of the HDA opportunities to come, but the ones I am most excited for are giving tours of the Health Center, that I love so deeply, as well as promoting the Health Center's mission through outreach and philanthropic acts in campus-wide events. As a lifelong resident of the Napa Valley I have always admired Clinic OLE'S dedication to the community. For many of us in the community "La Clinica Ole" was the only medical resource available, not only for its affordability, but also from a cultural/language comfort aspect. The doctors and staff were the only ones that offered the community a safe place where they could be cared for. It has been wonderful to witness how Clinic Ole has developed over the years, from a small traveling operation to its current sites and multiple locations. I understand the demand is still high and the need for expansion is still needed, and I would like to be part of it and help the organization meet its goals.…

Most little girls dream of being a ballerina when they grow up, I was the little girl who dreamed of medical school. Anyone who was brave enough to ask got my vehement no when asked if I thought that the college, subsequent medical school, and training would be too much school or that I would get bored. I decided very early that to be a doctor was one of the most exciting things that a person could chose to be and my fantastic pediatrician was the initial spark for this love of medicine. The care that I could see him exhibit in his daily operations as well as the ease at which he interacted with patients and parents alike inspired me. His knowledge was fascinating and I longed to have that level of understanding of the human body.…
