Improved Essays
When I was in elementary school, my teachers would ask us what we wanted to be when we grew up. The usual answer was a doctor, lawyer, police or firefighter. When I spoke up and said what I wanted my future profession to be was a flight attendant. Their reaction was always the same. They would look at me and ask me where I got that from.

But, my life did go on. I graduated from high school and enrolled in Norfolk State University as a Social Work Major. At the same time I worked as a clerk in the Personnel Office at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA. My life was looking up and I was happy. I begin to get restless and I started studying astrology and the stars. The heaven and the stars were still fascinated me. My life had now grown to include a husband and a baby. My husband was in the United
States Navy. His ship was leaving Norfolk, VA and was to be home ported in California. I was elated because this would be my very first trip on an airplane. I would be among the heavens and the stars. This was some place that I always wanted to be. It was not my profession but I was on an airplane. We begin to move around because of my husband’s career and I stopped attending NSU. After a few years, I enrolled in NSU again. Now I am an Education Major. This became a circle for me because I stopped attending NSU again.

We relocated in Orland, FL. We lived so close to Cape Canaveral that we could stand in our backyard or front yard and see the space shuttle take off. This was a beautiful sight to watch it

Maybe it is because my dad is a captain for Alaska Airlines or because my parents had me flying around the country on my own as soon as I could walk and talk. I do know one thing, on the Sunday morning of my first flight lesson, I was so excited for the journey I was about to embark upon. I promised myself that I would not get my hopes up, but once I was in the air, the feeling was indescribable. When my dad asked how it was, I had the biggest smile on my face and was at a loss of words.…
