Personal Narrative: A Boxer's Fracture

Improved Essays
I am not a boxer, but I got a boxer's fracture. A boxer's fracture is a fracture of one of the metacarpal bones in the hand. The fracture occurs when a person hits an immovable object with a closed fist. That is exactly what I did about one year ago. My ex boyfriend's collar bone was the point of contact.
It was just a regular day at Calvary Baptist Academy. I thought it was atleast. As I was walking down the hallway, a friend stopped me to tell me that my ex boyfriend, Christian, had done something to my car. After I had gone to my locker, I walked to the parking lot. When I got to my car, I did not notice anything until right before I walked away. He had placed a disassembled breakfast sandwich on the roof of my bright red Ford Mustang.

I grabbed the biscuit and carried it in my hand because I knew I would see him while walking to the dome for lunch. As soon as I walked around the corner of the building, there he was, right in front of me. I warned the people I was walking with what was about to happen. He was about twenty yards ahead of me so I took off running and when I got close to him, I threw the biscuit as hard as I possibly could at his head. When it contacted his head, a loud thud noise sounded and biscuit pieces flew everywhere. After the biscuit explosion, things got a lot more interesting. He stopped dead in his tracks and laughed uncontrollably. He was covered in embarrassment and humility. His curly, full head of hair, held several pieces of biscuit. After he realized what had happened, he chased after me because I had continued to run after I had thrown the biscuit. I ran through the front office building with him shortly behind. When we made it outside to the courtyard, he caught me. He began saying very vulgar, uncalled for things. He was showing his immaturity. At first, I thought they were funny because of how low his brain capacity was. After about a minute of him insulting me, I …show more content…
Krutholph saw everything that happened between Christian and I while in the dome. He knew Christian and I had a past. He also knew Christian was a trouble maker and a pest. Of course, I was crying. I had been crying ever since I had been insulted by Christian fifteen minutes earlier. When I approached Mr. K, I explained to him every event that had taken place. I was so afraid of getting suspended or something because I had never been in any trouble throughout the thirteen years I had been in school. Mr. K then told me that if I were in trouble he would be yelling at me. He was trying to help comfort me instead of discipline me because he knew that I was a good student and never bothered anyone. After talking to Mr. K for about five minutes, he sent me to the office. When I made it to the office, I asked for a bag of ice. Just as the ice bag was being handed to me, the principal, Mrs. Honea, walked out of her office. She began asking me multiple questions about the incident. I answered all of them and right after, she called Christian into her office. Christian was almost expelled from the school and also got a threat to be kicked off the football team. My mom checked me out as soon as she could. She met me at the doctor's office. We all thought something was seriously wrong with my hand. When I was called back to see the doctor, they asked me many questions. After they questioned me, I was taken to the x-ray room. They took many x-ray pictures and discovered that I had a

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…
