At one point, there was a house being built across the street. My mom and I decided to check it out. I was about seven at the time. The house was nowhere near done being built. There were no windows; they hadn’t put the shingles on the roof yet. The only part that was done was the wooden base and some insulation here and there. We explored the downstairs of the house; and when we had looked everywhere, we ventured upstairs. The smell of freshly cut wood was everywhere. In one room, there was insulation where the walls would have gone. Me being my thoughtless self, thought it was the walls. Not just how lucky I was that day, but how lucky I am in general. I have a roof over my head, a family, amazing friends, clean water, a phone and countless more belongings. Someday something could happen to my family and friends. Something like 9-11 could happen again. I would be angry at myself for yelling at my parents or complaining because my phone wasn’t working right. Some kids don’t even have a phone. Everyday I grief about somethings. Whether it’s about the power being out, my hair not looking good, not having enough clothes to wear, school isn’t or having to deal with anxiety. Sometimes things happen in life that you can’t control. So don’t let obstacles in life keep you from enjoying it. Enjoy life because it might not always be how it is
