The clock had already hit 0.00 but the final shot was in the air. I had watched it leave my hands from just behind the three point line less with less than a second of time left. I knew my girlfriend was behind me, in the stands watching as she had been the whole game. My coach had told me to take the shot during the timeout, five seconds had been on the clock at that point, almost an eternity. Out opponents had gotten so cocky, when they scored to take the lead with 8 seconds remaining, their bench had run out onto the court forcing the referee to yell at them all, delaying the game.…

The Instilled values I have gained from a lovingly dysfunctional family. I thought a lot about what I could write about from how geeky I am to a sad story about love lost but my mind always wandered back to my corky family. For all their faults and through mutual trials we always had each other’s backs. I guess this starts with my mom and dad, my father was already a window with two mentally disabled boys when he meet my mother. Soon after my paternal twin sister was born and my family scrapped by with four difficult children.…

The birds are singing outside, light beaming in through my blue curtains. I slowly open my eyes, blinking and trying to adjust to the harsh sunlight peeking through. I sit up on my bed with my rainbow-striped comforter wrapped around me. I can hear the creak of the shower knob turning in my brother’s bathroom and the sound of pans clattering in the kitchen. Everything is normal, except it isn’t.…

You can’t learn if you don’t try When I was in my childhood, I was a very timid person. I was afraid to try all the new things and meet new people. As a result, my dad began to encourage me to try out different things, such as swimming, playing piano and playing tennis, because he thought that if I tried many things, I could become more talented and outgoing. I used to be an obstinate person. If I firmly believe in one thing, it is hard to change my mind.…

The sun was shining, there was a slight breeze, I could hear the leaves rustling on the ground. It was the perfect day out today and anyone could tell. I close my eyes and just listen to the beautiful sounds of nature, wondering what all the birds were saying. Sometimes I think like that, just wondering the unknowable, I guess that’s something about me not many people know. I can hear soft footsteps but I don’t open my eyes, only shift my mouth into a small smirk.…
