However, this was based off your performances during workouts in practice. If you showed the coach what you were capable of, you were most likely put in a meet the next day or weekend. As much as I dreaded to go to practice, because I was tired or I had pain in my legs from shin splints, I still managed to push through all that, so I could be put in meets. Track practices were always intense workouts, but they made us stronger as a team. The harder we worked and focused during practice we usually got a day off or more breaks during the workouts.

I didn’t place at the conference meet, but I ran as best as I could. The whole experience was fun seeing other athletes with times as fast as 24 seconds in the 200 meter dash. Everyone on the team definitely put in work that day and made our coaches proud. Even though the team didn’t place first, we kept our heads held up high with what we brought onto the track.
After the season was over, we had an awards ceremony. I received a Varsity letter and the “Athletic Award” and I was shocked but jovial. My coach said that I always left everything out on the track, therefore I always gave it my all. I was put in events I normally don’t run and still had a positive attitude about it. I believe nothing is hand given, you have too work hard for it.
