Dedicating a specific time to meet each week was one of the best decisions we made. This allowed Mike and I the opportunity to make decisions together, discuss strategy, and stay focused on our vision and strategy, making adjustments as needed. Developing an understanding and appreciation of the strengths and abilities each brought to the table helped us work collaboratively together and form a strong partnership. Discovering that we certainly approached things from different aspects and viewpoints, bringing unique gifts, experiences, and knowledge, our underlying core values were very similar and added to our ability to form a cohesive team.
Personal Reaction to Results – What did we Learn?
Determining whether we were successful depends on how you define what success is. Based on the goals set for us by the Board of Directors, we met or exceeded almost all expectations. Earnings per share and stock prices increased every year except our first year of ownership. Return on investment increased significantly in year seven and eight and dipped slightly in year nine, most likely because the company repurchased stock. Image and credit rating remain higher than expected and we completed year nine holding steady in second place overall.
