PERSONAL NARRATIVE ESSAY

The purpose of this assignment is to give me the opportunity to show my personal experiences of what defines health and wellbeing. Health and wellbeing are defined as the four dimensions physical, spiritual, mental and emotional and social. Within this essay, I will develop my writing skills and improve on

It started when I was a kid, I loved watching my older brother play rugby for the representative team Auckland Roller Mills. Growing up I thought to myself if I was going to play rugby when I 'm older. I didn 't start playing rugby until the last year of high school when I thought why not join the school 's rugby team, Papakura High schools first xv. I 've always dreamed about playing rugby but I’ve never experienced it before and even since I was a little kid, I wanted to be like my older brother on the field playing rugby. When it came to trials day for rugby, I felt like I didn 't want to do it anymore because I was afraid I was too small. With me was my close friend Daniel, who is a big guy that kept encouraging me to still play as size doesn 't matter, but I still had second thoughts. Daniel then told me ‘this is your last year at high school just come and play’, I said I’ll think about it.

The support my family at home and overseas (brother) has for me is huge and that encourages me to keep moving forward. When the season nearly finished I went and thanked my friend Daniel for pushing and encourage me to join the rugby team. I found this challenge scary at first but with the support from family, I was able to finish the season also being injury free the season was a blessing because rugby is a contact sport, and anything can happen even death.
